Goddamn the loving wobbly track in the Steam Moscow vid. Man, I grew up in northern colorado, with one set of grandparents in Cheyenne - the other in Denver, and I spent soooo much time visiting Big Boys. It was years before I ever saw video of one movie, and it's loving terrifying. Boomerjinks fucked around with this message at 08:22 on Mar 31, 2011 |

Goddamn, that sounds like such a cool job. What's the job market like in Colorado (NOT Wyoming)for train drivers? What's the process you went through that landed you such a job offer?

BrokenKnucklez posted:BNSF is hiring in Denver. Best thing to do is apply online, when you get an invitation, PM me, I will help you every way I can. Do not rule out being in the signal department or car repairer (carman). This is one of the few blue collar jobs out there that makes a nice living. Sure you won't break the bank, but you will make a nice pay check with some great benefits. Awesome! Any more details on that? The only places hiring that I saw were Trinidad and Sterling.

B4Ctom1 posted:4004 is here in Cheyenne in a park. The streets buckled when they moved her to her final resting place I seem to recall being able to climb all over this during my childhood. Also that one time the entire park flooded with several feet of water (1997?), though it looks like it's been repainted since then. As a kid two of my favorite things were the Big Boy and the Big Bud which made my conversations really hard to follow.

Wilford Cutlery posted:Did somebody say coal trains? Obviously that's not the entire yard, but even looking at the satellite view it doesn't seem like that many cars. I grew up we'd have coal trains with 100 cars come through 12 times a day. That entire yard looks like no more than 2-3 days worth of trains, tops. It's still a mesmerizing picture, though.

I grew up in that valley. Surprised no one has posted about the Big Boy arriving at UP in Cheyenne this week for the start of its restoration to working order.
