I AM CARVALLO posted:Generation of Vipers released a little two track cover album of Milk It by Nirvana and Gates of Steel by DEVO. Prreeeety goooood. Especially Milk It. Also, Generation of Vipers in general is good if you've never listened to them. Dead Circle is a great album. I don't think they really added anything at all to their version of Milk It. Their Gates of Steel of course isn't really good compared to the real deal, but that at least add some flavor to it.

The last time I saw Eyehategod play in a boat in New York, their set got cut really short because apparently the organizers didn't allot much time. Pig Destroyer's set was cut short by technical problems too.

The Sword kicked rear end last night. American Sharks did a drat good job as well. Castle loving sucked, which was a shame because their shirts were amazing. Oh well. New Rosetta track up: http://www.metalsucks.net/2013/08/06/exclusive-premiere-rosetta-hara-the-center/

Yeah, I like the new Rosetta, not wild about it yet though. Hopefully with repeated listens it'll get better. I definitely wouldn't judge it on it's cover though! Still hoping that the vinyl release art will be different, if I decide I like it enough to make that purchase.

We got all of Age of Winters the first night in San Francisco, with Codex Corvidae as part of the encore. There was also an actual pit, which was a far cry from the Apocryphon tour where they had security throwing a fit at people banging their heads too hard. Lots of fun. Bummer they couldn't bring their beer on tour with them, though.

Those kids' reactions pretty much encapsulate the general response to the Melvins- half of them are indifferent, the other half are covering their ears in annoyance, and there's one kid standing by Buzz's amp who's really into it.

Definitely check out Capricorns, they were an instrumental sludge band from the UK and they were really solid overall. 1 EP and 2 full lengths, all three of those releases are worth listening to.

Hello thread it's me again, some updates from Saturnalia Temple, I was at our drummers funeral yesterday, which was heart wrenching. He had a sudden medical emergency and passed away in july. Jens Gustafsson was also the drummer for Griftegård, and a slew of other bands (Human Size Giants, Rawhypnols, etc), He had just gotten onboard and played a few shows with us, but we'll miss him both as a drummer and a new found brother. I think this is actually the only or one of very few recordings of us playing together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b64vVk5L1kM On a lighter note: We're doing a two week tour on American soil this fall, together with Velnias and Esoteric(!). 9/22 : Soda Springs, CA (Stella Natura Festival) 9/23 : Portland, OR @ Ash Street Saloon w/ Cauldron Black Ram 9/24 : Seattle, WA @ The Highline w/ Anhedonist 9/25 : Boise, ID @ The Shredder w/ Uzala 9/26 : Salt Lake City, UT @ Bar Deluxe w/ Moon of Delirium 9/27 : Colorado Springs, CO @ The Zodiac w/ Stoic Dissention 9/28 : St. Louis, MO 9/29 : Chicago, IL @ Reggie’s Rock Club 9/30 : Indianpolis, IN @ Beale Street Live w/ Black Goat of the Woods 10/1 : Columbus, OH @ The Shrunken Head 10/2 : Pittsburgh, PA @ Howler’s 10/3 : Baltimore, MA @ The Metro Gallery w/ Oak 10/4 : New York City, NY @ St. Vitus Bar w/ Evoken 10/5 : Boston, MA @ TBA

big scary monsters posted:I can't really think of any other bands who've got quite the same minimalist/horror sound, but there are a few I'd say are somewhat similar. Burning Witch is the obvious one if you don't know them already, they share a member in Stephen O'Malley. French doom band Monarch also have that sort of feel, I like their S/T but their latest offering (on bandcamp) is a bit more creeping and subtle in a Khanate-like style. Otherwise Atavist, Ocean and possibly Fleshpress (who I think are awesome and I'm pretty happy to find their bandcamp has three albums I haven't heard) might also be up your street. We have to also mention Sunn o))) right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8Djdi6z0m8

Though I probably seem like the Subrosa fanboy in this thread and though their aesthetics are a bit heavy handed in their gothy-ness NPR is streaming a second track off of their forth coming album and it's worth a listen if you're into some slow trudging doom with dual violins to make it a bit more dissonant. Subrosa - Ghosts of a Dead Empire: http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2013/08/15/212011035/vikings-choice-violins-swarm-in-subrosas-heavy-dead-empire The track that was previously released on Pitchfork: Subrosa - Cosey mo: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/15754-subrosa-cosey-mo/ I promise I have nothing to do with this band.

Also, hell yeah to whoever mentioned Subrosa. No Help For the Mighty Ones was loving phenomenal, and I've got high hopes for the new LP.
