I know most of their many, many albums are more psychedelic/garage than stoner metal but have any of you guys heard Infest the Rats Nest by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard?

I think this specific album would be relevant to your interests.

"The great chain of Being" of Gumboot Soup is another brief foray into Stoner sound for them.

I'm always disappointed by greed but I can understand it when the amounts involved are huge, life changing. I'll never understand people who gently caress over their closest friends and even family members and burn every bridge in their life over poo poo that like, wouldn't buy you a used Kia.

Curious to hear the drummer's side on this one. I bet it's something to the tune of "I've been sick for a year because we were never not on tour, so he replaced me with a hired gun".

Yeah you get a bit of that even in the singer's story: "I told him he could take a day off any time we weren't on tour... anyway during our third consecutive tour..."

Oh wow that's really good music and it really is a loving horrible name. Might buy their album but not gonna buy their t-shirt.

Not really music but the Facebook algorithm decided to show me this site today and https://www.blkrnbw.com/ I think it might be relevant to y'all's interests too.

While not quite doom, this feels more appropriate to this thread than any other. I heard this band for the first time this week, I think maybe because of the doom charts blog? Definitely some blog's list of 'best of 2021 so far' albums, and I can't believe this song has fewer than 1,000 views right now:

Definitely give it a listen if you're into stuff like King Gizzard.

I really enjoyed this 2021 Heavy Temple track when it came up on shuffle just now. Almost sounds like what you'd get if My Morning Jacket made a metal album:

During the 2000s I had a side-gig interviewing bands for a site that was big at the time. I interviewed a bunch of punk and metal bands (among others -- novelists, comedians, scientists, etc). Anyway, almost to a rule most artists I talked to were just normal people with an extraordinary talent, but if they were your neighbor or something they'd be just another person. Particularly a lot of big scary looking metal dudes are really dorks at heart. Wouldn't be out of place at a Magic: the Gathering tournament if they weren't covered in spikes and tattoos. The metal persona was just that: a mask.

Matt Pike, though, was loving intimidating. Very laconic.

Incidentally Andrew WK was just as magical as you'd wish. I asked him a total of FOUR questions and he filled up both sides of a 90 minute cassette.

It's not even a novel or interesting gimmick. Nirvana were doing it 30 years ago, and they were aping Hendrix and the Stooges and other people who were doing it 30 years before that. It's cliche rock star bullshit that's old and tired as hell.
