Anyone want to get together for a doob at Roadburn? I don't know anyone going apart from the friend I'm travelling with and it'd be cool to meet some of you guys, which I've never done... though I did once meet a non-goon who'd been lurking in this thread (I said hi after I saw he had an Orange Goblin hoodie on).

edit: For the extremely spontaneous, there are loads of spare Roadburn tickets going here http://www.foreverdoomed.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=20562

If you see a long-haired guy wearing a green Weedeater hoodie and/or a jacket loaded with patches, including a The Devil's Blood backpatch, come say hello!

I'm flying down from Trondheim on Wednesday, my biggest concern for the festival is having to stand in line for Ufomammut midway through Shrinebuilder's set. Despite that and a bunch of lesser clashes, I'm stoked as hell. Printed out the running order and picked some suitably beardy shirts today. :D

I'm crashing at my Dutch friend's house on the 13th, then we're driving to Tilburg Thursday morning. I assume the nights in the campsite will get rather cold, but on the other hand I'll probably be too dazed to care or notice.

On a not Roadburn-related note, here's a pretty good Swedish band for fans of YOB and Ufomammut:

Their entire first album is up on their MySpace for free.

I agree 100%. That Ufomammut gig is one of the best shows I've ever seen. Could hardly stand on my legs after they completely obliterated me and my group of friends. Already looking forwards to Roadburn 2012!

Saw Kyuss Lives for my second time last night. Great show, with a particularly awesome rendition of Whitewater being the highlight of the night. I guess Nick posted bail and was free to go overseas, which was surprising but awesome. He was grinning and chain-smoking the entire for the duration of the show. Also saw Monster Magnet on Thursday, which was also good, but god drat Wyndorf has been adding on the pounds after he sobered up. Good for him.

Apparently Samsara Blues Experiment are coming out with a new album in November, titled "Revelation & Mystery". Their 2010 debut was phenomenal, so I'm really looking forwards to hearing some new stuff.

Also, Black Pyramid have a new album due soon. This is why you should be excited:

So it looks like Black Sabbath are headlining Hellfest next year. Alongside Saint Vitus, Pentagram, YOB, Acid King, Colour Haze, The Devil's Blood, Monkey3, Orange Goblin, Ufomammut, and a heap of other bands. And there's still 60 more bands to be confirmed! Looks like I'll be heading back to France next June...

So Black Pyramid are apparently back together again, without Andy Beresky?

Some details about their upcoming album:

quote:

The tracklisting:

'Endless Agony'
'Mercy's Bane'
'Night Queen'
'Dreams Of The Dead'
'Tanelorn'
'Sons Of Chaos'
'Empty Handed Insurrection'
'The Hidden Kingdom'
'Into The Dawn'

"The first album represented a book of nine different stories from our own private mythology... the Black Pyramid mythology," Neely explained. "This second album, II, represents another nine stories from the same book but these are significantly darker tales."

Additionally, Black Pyramid has announced the addition of vocalist / guitarist Darryl Shepard to its ranks. Shepard, known for his instantly memorable guitar playing in bands such as BLACKWOLFGOAT, ROADSAW and MILIGRAM, replaces former six stringer Andy Beresky.

More info and cover art here.

Oh, and regarding two new Ufomammut albums in 2012: gently caress yes!

To the roadburn dudes, where will you be staying? I have the option of staying at Utrecht for free but I still have to catch trains to and from Tilburg, which isn't all that great or cheap.

We'll be staying at the Beekse-Bergen campgrounds, it was a good time last year except for the cold. This year I'll bring a warmer sleeping bag, so I won't get sick again!

Speaking of which, does anyone know whether it's possible to book the night before the festival? We're planning at going to Holland on the 11th, so it'd be nice to set up camp the day before instead of rushing from Amsterdam on the 12th.

Just a friendly reminder that Roadburn tickets go on sale tomorrow!

Amongst the confirmed acts are Electric Wizard, Moss, Alcest, Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats, Pallbearer, Hour of 13, Pilgrim, Witchsorrow, The Ruins of Beverast, Mourning Beloveth, Godflesh, Primordial, Les Discrets, Wo Fat, Cult of Luna, Asphyx, Jess & the Ancient Ones, and with a lot more to be announced. Since I'll be at work when they open the sale, I'm trusting that either my brother or one of my dutch friends will get an extra ticket despite of the pre-sale party gimmick they're doing this year.

Returned from Holland last night, my ears are still ringing. Highlights for me were Electric Wizard (they played an extended version of "Funeralopolis" which slayed), Uncle Acid, Asphyx (doing only slow songs), Jess & The Ancient Ones, High On Fire, and Electric Moon. Bummed out about missing Goat, but the venue was packed by the time Electric Wizard stopped playing. All the bands I saw put on some excellent performances though, and I'm already starting to feel excited for next year!

Yeah, we went to see them on a whim, and stayed for the whole show even though the Green Room balcony was reaching boiling temperatures. Definitely the biggest surprise and new discovery of the festival for me.

Oh, and Herder was also an awesome surprise. The drummer from Urfaust really went insane on the bass, while the guitarist from The Devil's Blood shredded our balls off. Man, I'm really feeling the post-Roadburn depression now.
