In case anybody hasn't heard it, the B-side (final three tracks) of Black Flag's 1984 album, My War sounds like proto-Melvins and had a big impact on sludge. I don't generally love Black Flag, but I did like these three tracks. Interesting! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28NZ8cEFHgY&t=1246s

sea of losers posted:ive been listening to funeralopolis and we hate you and dopethrone by electric wizard a lot. what sounds p much like / as good as those tracks Unfortunately you're asking about tracks on a GOAT-level album, so it's a high bar, but other EW might do the trick. I like Witchcult Today as an album with Dunwich being a rather "tight" EW track and Satanic Rites of Drugula just being awesome. Other bands to check out from there are Sleep and Om. The good news is you've got great taste, so you'll find more stuff you like. Kvlt! posted:ive never felt unsafe at a metal show tbh. I used to work concert security and the metal shows were always the easiest nights bc metalheads police themselves and take care of each other. The big pop country acts were the worst crowds, too much alcohol and lots of fighting and grandstanding. I live in Massachusetts and it was always funny watching people in big trucks get in fights bc they wanna play southern cowboy but theyre from Boston Agree with this. Mosh pits get rowdy but metalheads really do take care of their own and will stop and pick you up if you fall down. Most unsafe I've felt was at a Jedi Mind Tricks show at a tiny club in Virginia, out of nowhere his DJ jumped off the stage, punched some dude in the face a bunch, and then got back on stage like nothing happened. It was weird... Moogs fucked around with this message at 16:04 on Feb 9, 2021 |

trem_two posted:This is some dinosaur themed stoner/doom, and hell, I think it kicks rear end. Some definite Electric Wizard worship going on, but that's not a crime. This is sweet. I'm okay with jokey themes as long as it rips, like Mac Sabbath.

Henchman of Santa posted:Come My Fanatics, the self-titled album and Witchcult Today are generally considered highlights. We Live and Let Us Prey have mixed responses. They’ve been seeing diminishing returns with their last few, although Wizard Bloody Wizard is the only one I outright think is subpar. Well put. Dunwich may be the most “accessible” EW track, and it still fucks.

Zoben posted:I mean, I drew all the artwork for their last album but they've been doing some hardcore publicity for it so I figured anybody here would be aware of it/sick of it by now. But it's also the first time that my art has been on a guitar pedal, so I'm pretty jazzed about that. Are you talking about Weedsconsin?

Zoben posted:yep gently caress. That's awesome. I'm a little sad to say I think the art was the best part of Weedsconsin. I mean the album wasn't bad, and maybe I had impossible expectations, but I was a little disappointed. Art is sweet though. Do you sell any of your stuff to normal humons?

Roma Nebo has a track from May feat. Electric Wizard... it's not the Electric Wizard, right? It shows up on EW's Apple Music page, but I think Apple is pretty bad about curating when multiple artists use the same name.
