My wife surprised me with a few retail packs of 2011 Allen & Ginter the other day and I may have been sucked back into cards since I quit a few years back. Anyways, I'd be interested in any minis you might have to trade from either 2011 or 2008 A&G.

I can PM you a list of what I've got and what I need when I get home today. And yeah, all the local shops were closed when I wanted to go last night. I was really surprised to pull that Pedroia since I've never had much luck with retail.

I figure it's a decent idea, but from what I've seen on Youtube the baseballs look like really cheap toys, which sucks. For a premium product like this, why not spend an extra dollar or two for regulation balls? From what I've seen, they're all regulation balls.

The good news is if you hate the player you get, you just have a new regulation ball to play with. I'd buy them all day long at 10-15 bucks just to play catch with.

There's a lot of hype being spun out for this story because of the auction house trying to get as much attention as possible. But honestly the basic fact is that these cards aren't extremely rare. They are valuable, just not $3 million valuable. We're talking more like $500K at most. Maybe he's talking them down so he can buy them.

The atmosphere is pretty casual but it feels like an office. Only with lots of baseball cards. As for the expansion (which I guess I'm a part of), it's been reasonably organic. The biggest hurdle is definitely the 750,000 cards that showed up from the promo. It's proving to be a challenge.

I'm probably down for a slot. Also, I work for comc.com in case any of the participants wanted to get their cards directly on the site, perhaps eviLduke could ship them to me. That way he'd be able to save on shipping and toploaders and all that. And if you're a first time seller I can give you a $20 off coupon to go toward your first consignment. If there's no interest, that's fine, but I wanted to throw that out there as an option in case it would help anyone out.

Also the shipping prices are great and I don't have to deal with the sort of crap I would if I was buying from Ebay. Hey, glad to see you're enjoying the site. I've had an account on COMC since 2008 but I started working there about 7 months ago. The past year has been great and there has been a lot of growth. The future is pretty exciting. Do you sell on there or have you primarily bought singles?

I am still working there Edit: I should mention the Hot List special is really good right now. Since we're getting ready to release The Vault next month, we're running a special where you can submit any item with a $20 or higher BV to get $0.50 Hot List One Day processing. Also, all Hot List items now get the 36x resolution scans so, if they are at least $20 BV, they are Vault Eligible. Now would be a good time to send your high end stuff to the site since it's essentially normal One Day processing, which is normally $2, for $0.50. And would any of you know the best way to work on a cheap collection of Whitey Ford/Mickey Mantle cards? Ebay is hell and full of fakes and I don't want anything rare, just some more old pictures for my desk basically. Right now I've just got a handful of cards I collected as a kid and put into storage, my favorite being a Topps 150 '67 Mantle. To your second question, COMC is probably your best bet. You can buy cards over time (week, month, year) from around 3k sellers and ship whenever you want for only $3. Whitey Ford Mickey Mantle Full disclosure: I work at COMC

jeffersonlives posted:Commons are running 10-20 bucks raw these days, stars/HOFers mostly from 25-50, but there are some cards that have condition or scarcity issues that drive prices higher than that up to a couple hundred. It would be a long-term project, picking up a 20 buck card every now and again isn't a big deal; I mean, hell, it's a similar but a little lesser price scope as T206s except the set is a third the size and actually completable, and I collect those. In raw or PSA 8 type grades I think this is doable. That sounds low to me. I generally see commons going for 20-40, semi-stars from 40-100, and stars at 100-300. I don't watch them too closely, but that's the sense i get.
