I legitimately like quite a wide variety of rap (including some of the stuff I was insulting) I just think it's hilarious how sensitive people get about the stuff they like and uptight they get about the stuff they don't like. Try being harder or more gangsta or something I guess, maybe wear an extra "I LOVE MY HATERS" tshirt today, you'll feel better about that a random person on the internet insulted your favorite rapper (Lil' Young Thug)

You're getting very worked up over music you don't like. Perhaps instead you should either ignore it or offer a cogent criticism (like Robert Analog just did), because just "get out" when someone posts music you don't like is pathetic.

This is for discussion about music, not posting only music that is thread-approved.

So the new AOTP (Army of the Pharaohs) has leaked and even though I will be copping this album once it's released next week I decided I'd give it a listen so long, I had been waiting anxiously, being a massive fan of the group. Ritual of Battle is one of the best collaborative albums of recent times in my opinion, so I was keen to see how In Death Reborn was going to be. The singles which were released on Youtube already were pretty good, granted I have mixed feelings on aspects of Curse of the Pharaohs.

Overall I am enjoying the album, I'm not sure if it is up there with Ritual of Battle which had tracks like "Seven" which were just insane. But there are a couple of tracks on In Death Reborn which are definitely sick. My four favourite tracks at the moment after about 10 listens are: "See You in Hell", "Headless Ritual", Ninkyo Dantai (Yakuza) and "7th Ghost". I still think the first single "God Particle" is a good track too though.

Celph Titled always manages to kill collaborative tracks (more so than his solo stuff), and this album is no different. Some great lines by him. But everyone comes to the party as with previous albums.

Here's the single which was released last month, for those who may not have heard it:

Definitely recommend giving In Death Reborn a listen though, still better in my opinion than most of what is getting released.

Yeah I'm a really big AOTP fan and I'm pretty excited about the album. I agree with you that Celph does better on collaborative tracks--I love his style but on all his solo albums there's only a few tracks I'm really feeling.

His style doesn't really work over long periods imo. The impact of his bombastic punchline style gets really dulled if he's not just around in short bursts but in that lane he's amazing. I haven't really got into much of the AOTP stuff, but I really dug all the old Demigodz stuff a bunch (Apathy should've been a star :( ).

Yeah, I would really like to see another Apathy album where he mostly uses the style that he uses for AOTP and Snowgoons stuff. Honkey Kong wasn't too bad but I feel like he can do so much better--he's able to paint scenes with his lyrics better than just about any other rapper I've heard.

I love all the old Demigodz stuff and still listen to it, though some of it I'm not sure has aged very well. Them, Styles of Beyond, and Doe Rakers (and all the cross-collabs they did with each other) were a lot of fun.

Thirstin Howl III has also done collabs with various AOTP and Snowgoons associated acts. Good stuff.

As alansmithee has already noted, The Gatalog is a good sort of "repository" of early Demigodz stuff (with a Celph Titled focus) that also incorporates various tracks from AOTP that Celph is on as well as various early Celph tracks often featuring Doe Rakers, Styles of Beyond, as well as rappers he knew back in Florida that haven't really made it (DutchMassive and Majik Most come to mind).

Also, it isn't labeled as a Demigodz album, but in 2007 Celph Titled and Apathy released an album called "No Place Like Chrome" that is worth checking out.

And for something completely different, Apathy, Ryu, and Scoop DeVille did a really strange album in 2009 that barely qualifies as rap, it's really more of a... strange R&B thing.

On the topic of the data-mining mentioned in the last page (with largest vocabulary in songs) I'd really like to see what the difference is for artists' most recent ~35,000 words rather than their first.

Obviously it isn't a measure of an artist's success or even skills, but it is interesting data and I'm curious to see how rappers' vocabulary changes throughout their careers.

I stopped paying attention after that but I feel like I heard a real rap metal sounding song recently and I scoffed. He's top-tier technically though.
You probably did--he did a full project collaborating with Ross Robinson that features a number of various musicians from metal and nu-metal bands.
