this song is loving awesome. cant wait for the album. i dont think i could ever be unhappy about new demigodz poo poo. also ryu rules.

when i first heard the beat come in i thought it was the corniest poo poo, but i think they chopped it up and played with it perfectly. as for celph though, i dunno how many times i can hear a bunch of non sequitur punchlines before i stop caring.

I dunno man, I don't really listen to anything other than American stuff but some french rap is pretty on point. In fact the group IAM used to collaborate a lot with wu-tang back in the days. Not sure how it sounds to an English ear but check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA2zoE_Yww8&ob=av2n

edit: yall probably heard it before but whatever

that link is broken but french and other romance languages dont work for rap because they are flat. they are all pronounced without inflection and dont have rhythm like germanic languages do (english). i guess its different if you understand it but listening to rap you cant understand that also cannot flow to a beat is pretty boring.

I haven't hear anyone go off like that in a while. I don't understand people who can defend Danny Brown and then poo poo talk Hopsin. Danny Brown sucks massively, and he looks like way more of an emo bitch than Hopsin.
every single analogy or talking point of hopsin has been said or been done to death. he might be able to rap but the fact that he is still saying things like "rap is dead and i'm its savior" like there havent been 500 different people saying that is just annoying. he can rhyme/flow i guess but his subject matter just isnt compelling at all. danny brown on the other hand is a unique character that is saying and rapping about things that are surprising/funny which is why he is worth listening to.

Slackerish posted:

On the subject of Childish Gambino...I think he gets a little too much flak, he's a decent rapper and lyricist, but oh my god he covered "Lust for Life" by Girls and it's soooo loving cheesy.

On another tirade I think Kendrick Lamar is probably my favorite rapper right now.
childish gambino suffers from the same problem i think. gambino rehashes the same (often incorrect) ideas using over-the-top punchlines that sound like he sorted through lil wayne's trash can for a couple of weeks. the fact that he pretends the only reason famous isnt famous is because he isnt a thug is also so objectively wrong its frustrating to listen to. rhyming over some beat is easy, saying something interesting isnt.
