Unrelated Is there another We Got It 4 Cheap coming out? I think I heard Malice, Pusha and RUG all had mixtapes coming out this year. Who the gently caress knows...

I've got an interesting challenge that's surprisingly hard for me. I have a friend who challenged me to "find him a rapper that goes harder than Eminem". While this sounds easy enough, he's not exactly what I would call a true rap fan. He's completely submerged in top 40 stuff so I can't give him a lot of the better rap I have because I think it'll go unappreciated. All I can think of off the top of my head that'll satisfy him is a bunch of old Three 6 mixtapes or maybe Kendrick Lamar since he's current. Any ideas?

Royce sounds like he's going to pop a vein more or less constantly. Pretty sure that qualifies as goin hard.

Well, Hell- The Sequel just leaked, and each song is pretty different, in fact the whole thing seems pretty disjointed. But Eminem, particularly on the first track, is killing so I don't mind to much.

I thought Fastlane was pretty great -- but yeah that first song is crazy good. Rest of it is all over the place.

Why isn't Pusha T bigger than he is? I mean the guy raps about the same poo poo as anyone else: girls, money, cars, and cocaine. "Alone In Vegas" was my favorite track off Fear of God and the video is just as great.

"Alone In Vegas" video.

He needs Malice.

Don't get me wrong -- he's hand-down my all-time favorite MC, but both Pusha and Malice's solo stuff just kinda falls flat, with a few exceptions.

Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury
Em - Slim Shady LP
M.O.P. - To the death
JMT - Violent By Design
Gangstarr - Moment of Truth

There's about 20 more albums I can't decide on, heh.

You don't want to listen to music about guns or money but not only did you list a rapper who is literally named after a gun and raps about guns and money (and drugs), you also named Childish Gambino who raps strictly about getting money in order to get girls, and you listed Dre and Jay. No explanation needed there. How do you reconcile your wants with your reality? I cant. :cmon:

Listen I get it. You're new to rap and you don't quite understand it yet. Thats fine. Welcome to the genre you probably didn't even consider a genre until you heard your first Eminem song. Heres a few things you should understand though. First, the genre revolves around repetitive beats and is also largely based on the acquiring of ends, hollow tips and licks to hit and if you listen hard enough you'll find that just because a rapper touches on the subject there are small and often times subtle details that make the rapper completely unique and those are the things fans find enjoyment in. You want to be a fan right? Of course you do. I don't know if you actually listen to music or just skim through it but even Childish Gambino (if you recall you enjoy this guy) touched on it.

So late to this party, but relevant(in more than a few ways) and excellent line from Jay-Z on Renagade

Super monotone delivery, that slurred lazy way of rapping that's just barely more coherent than mumbling. If I want to hear raps about the same subject matter, which is admittedly pretty rare for me, rap's back catalog has already provided me with dozens of better options than this.
