He also made mention of how every time he tries to get a little experimental his fan base hates it so he has to expand his sound in small doses. I think he just needs to get hooked up with a good producer again so he can concentrate more on writing his raps.

Maybe I'm alone on this one, but he also needs to work with Aesop again. Those two would sound phenomenally better together than if he finally ends up doing the project with Doom.

Am I the only one who didn't know they had reconciled to the point where they were going to record again?

I think my favorite thing about listening to rap is recognizing all the callbacks/homage type poo poo that goes on, which I think comes from Jazz. Like you might hear a good line or melody, and think "Oh he took that from Blackstar" and then you listen to Biggie and hear it again, and then you listen to BDP and you're sure that's where it came from originally, until you find out that KRS-One lifted it from an old dancehall track.

I don't know who started it, but I kind of like this trend of rappers dropping EPs in addition to mixtapes now. I guess they're gonna serve as a replacement for "Retail Mixtapes" since they charge money for 'em. It's a good way to get music out and still get paid while your debut is stuck in label-hell, I suppose.

I saw Raekwon and Ghost in Philly. Cappadonna performed with them almost the entire time and carried the show because it seemed like they were too tired. Also my hat made it on stage

Word I'm seeing all three of them to perform Cuban Linx... on Miami Beach. Mobb Deep is gonna be there too to perform The Infamous in it's entirety. I'm so loving excited for this I'm a huge Ghost/wu-tang stan.

Soulja Boy was enemy number 1 back then and was lil B's first big name cosign. There's too many loving camps to say its all the same folk.

CII is and probably will stay my favorite Weezy F, probably cause it was my first time I REALLY heard him. See I wasn't into mixtapes back then, so I'd only heard Go DJ, Fireman, and at that point. But I heard this dude going off in the record store to the clerk about how Lil Wayne was the best thing in rap, whatever whatever, so I picked up his latest instead of the 2nd-gen Wu-tang or whatever crap I was thinking was good at the time.

Actually now that I think about it, I think I picked it over Nas' Street's Disciple double-album that had dropped around then. What a good choice that was.

After that I discovered you could download mixtapes online (for free!) so I went pretty much just went HAM after that, lost interest a couples months after CIII dropped.

I guess that was.. drat, like 6 years ago now.

Related note: I think some of you all forget or just never experienced how much fun that backpacker phase actually is when you first get into rap. I feel like since I grew up during the Puffy shiny suit era/turn of millennium NYC era. I got exposed to a lot of garbage. And not there wasn't a bunch of good poo poo that came out in that time, what they were playing on rap radio and MTV turned off a lot of white kids who couldn't relate, I think. So when you get your hands on something like Operation: Doomsday or Blackstar for the first time, or even aTCQ, it feels like you've found some lost and rare artifacts (no pun) that you can play to your friends and try to impress them. I must've played Illmatic at least once to EVERYONE who got in my whip for about 3 months.

I remember listening to Del's Both Sides of the Brain all the way home from Marathon Key to my hometown like an hour and a half away with my friend, and also that Deltron 3030 album.

It's like you discovered some rare art form, like a whole different format that's been under your nose the whole time. Does that make me a culture vulture? Maybe. The difference is that I'm gonna rep this poo poo forever. I'm gonna be like that Michael Bolton character in Office Space, blasting Geto Boyz from my Toyota Corolla as I drive to my lovely office job. And if they ever drop another Deltron album, you're gonna catch me standing in line, on release day.
