There's a Complex list of the 50 greatest rap samples done by Kon and Amir (might've got talked about in the last thread). It's really cool not just to see the samples but how they're used. I remember one that stuck out was "Lyrics to Go" which just has a stretched out Minnie Ripperton vocal sample.

is anyone interested in the new Lil B mixtape that's droppin' in a few days? i can't wait now that i'm finally caught up with all his work. it's called Bitch Mob: Respect The Bitch Vol. 1. there's a bunch of tracks on youtube he's been posting up and it actually sounds really good. i'm a big fan of his though so i may just be biased, but it really sounds like he's taking on a completely different style for this album, and it's a full on project with a few other rappers he's good with. here's some links for you guys:

"my life" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzyhttFpMlU

"please respect" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFxyAzwzjUM&feature=related

"loyalty" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6qfCPSk-uo

the production hella reminds me of old school black market records stype stuff (mainly x-raided), and that's just nostalgia for me so i dig this poo poo a lot. a lot of people probably hate on this dude but just wonderin' who else is anticipating this, if anyone is at all ahaha.

Wale's a dude who's gonna end up like Ras Kass or someone I bet. It's like he wants to be a megastar too badly and is jumping all over styles instead of just making good music. Although I wish he'd have saved that GaGa feature until she was a bit more popular.

I've always thought his big problem is he just doesn't have a real "hook"-like he has no personality that makes people want to listen to him. I knwo he's from DC (area) but he reminds me a lot of a slightly-softer Philly dude-someone who can rap their rear end off but for whatever reason is almost instantly forgettable to most people.

And going back to the Waka chat, he's horrible as a "rapper" but over the production he gets he sounds good and makes good music. Like it's hard to not get hype listening to Flockaveli, almost reminds me of M.O.P. in that way.

my dude

im listening to the mmg album again and i realise wale is just irritating as gently caress on here. no-one is convinced. he should just go back to makin somewhat thoughtful and wussy songs

i'm digging his work, Blockhead sent him some beats via twitter (eXquire reached out to Block, the real surprise) and is probably also going to do some collab with Danny Brown.

honestly kingcobweb, i think that album stood the test of time a lot better than most 80s rap albums. like i think most criticisms you could have on it can be applied to most 80s rap. plus the production was way ahead of its time.
