While I think of it- if you'd prefer to skip me (the postage costs to this continent will suck) that's completely okay! I've been meaning to send a bunch of regular goonmail since the start of the year and this will be good incentive.

Will you believe that postage to any place outside of my own tiny country is the same for all destinations? Today the scrapbook was updated (I had a 4-day weekend to Luxembourg, France and Germany) and tomorrow it will be send out.
Thank you all for your patience.

It looked and acted like 250gr cellulose watercolor paper. Instead of going all artist on it, I prioritized forwarding to the next on the list and went crazy scrapbook.

I owe a very belated, but very appreciative, THANK YOU to the following goons:

Thank you Zoedare for the adorable Penguin Books postcard! Congrats and good luck on your grant application!

Thank you Lamb for the Nashville Hot Chicken postcard! You have the prettiest handwriting; I aspire to have such pretty cursive! Congrats on seeing Pearl Jam, hope it was awesome.

Thank you rear end Penny for the letter! Good luck on the car purchase and/or upgrade!

Thank you Keetron for the hand-painted postcard and another cool Netherlands postage stamp! I wish I could do watercolors like you.

I brought two 2-ounce letters to the post office just now. One for Tree Bucket in Australia and the other is for Pixelante in Canada. Based on the reaction from the tellers, you would've thought I was trying to mail an entire photo album in an envelope and call it a letter. They were flummoxed.

So, I sent them as $4.55 and $2.19 letters, respectively. And I'm hoping they go through. If you do not get them after 21 days, please let me know and I will mail out something else.

Edit: My goal is to have mailed something out to everyone on the list before December.

Being pretty sure I send you things over the past years, you might have noticed that I gave up on being coherent or worthwhile. In fact, I would rather receive a card with nonsense on it than nothing.

Thank you. Please don't feel obligated to reply and/or rush anything. I'm just as happy making and sending out cards as I am receiving something in the mail. :comfyoot:

Here are the sentence starters I've been using lately:

1.) The theme of the card I made and where I got the inspiration.
2.) Coffee, tea, or food I ate/cooked recently and what I thought of it.
3.) A book/article I read recently and if I recommend it or not.
4.) Music I've listened to recently and a mini 5-song playlist I recommend. (Recent playlists I've sent out include either intense Baroque instrumentals or modern Chinese folk music.)
5.) The view/birds/weather outside my window right now.
6.) Places I've traveled to and/or where I want to go someday.
__________

Other penpal sentence starters:

7.) Your favorite animal and why.
8.) A movie you saw recently, thoughts?
9.) Things you do for exercise.
10.) Your yard/garden or something you're growing.
11.) Something you enjoy collecting, how did it start? How big is your collection?
12.) What is your pet doing right now? What is their name?
13.)

Keetron posted:

_____________

One of my hobbies is handmaking cards. I put a lot of time into them and I special order stamps to match the theme. Please let me know if you would ever like a specific theme, otherwise you will get whatever recently inspired me:

1.) Cats
2.) Classic Alice in Wonderland
3.) Classic Chinese
4.) Modern Japanese kawaii, Butterkun
5.) Classic Japanese
6.) Halloween circus
7.) 1950s storybook/school
8.) Black & white photo; 1950s Hollywood
9.) Native Americans
10.) Star Wars
11.) Dungeons, dragons, & crystals.
12.) Cozy Autumnal
13.) Shabby chic, botanical ephemera
14.) Food

I continue to collect postcards with the intention of mailing them and then forgetting about the whole practice for months at a time, then being too embarrassed about that to engage with the act of writing mail. it’s not a great cycle, I don’t recommend it; my therapist has described it as a “nice meaty problem” to work on together at some point, which I’m looking forward to!

I am very grateful for the unrequited mail I continue to get, though—always lifts my spirits and I should say so more often

I think this might be on the radar! My USPS mail preview had a weird package tracking number pop up on it the other day. Very excited for this.

I recently had a huge anxiety relapse, so I haven’t felt up to sending any mail, but I’m starting to work on that sloooowly. Ulillinguist, your card came on a very bad day when I really needed it, so thank you. I too have several cards and letters that I wrote and didn’t send, so there will be some interesting time jumps in them when they do arrive to their destinations.
