HorseHeadBed posted:There's a lower leg between Rogue's feet that I'm not sure belongs to anyone. It's supposed to be Storm's but also there's a gap in the pose between rogue's thighs where the connection should be made but it absolutely doesn't. Also based on the leg positioning, Storm's right leg should be barely visible but it isn't. I have to wonder how often Sage needs to pull up her tube top because that position pretty much says her nipples are gonna be exposed every time she breathes in the slightest bit too deeply. And the less said about Remy's hand and arm, the better.

Maybe it's like Sandman Overture where whoever artworked the covers didn't have whatever special font they were gonna use for it, so it defaults to Myriad after the 'v'. https://imgur.com/aZlFzoX Always hated that and I've never seen anyone pull it up.

Goldskull posted:Maybe it's like Sandman Overture where whoever artworked the covers didn't have whatever special font they were gonna use for it, so it defaults to Myriad after the 'v'. Pre-Photoshop, they used to do paste up where a specialist would cut out and arrange a logo from a special font sheet that had been photocopied/mimeographed a billion times. The paste up artist would literally put wax or paste on the back of the letters and arrange them. Then a layout artist would arrange the logo on the artwork and then send it to a special camera that would take pictures, make color separations and so on... The client would then use that logo/design for the next 30 years and when they went to reprint the originals they tossed in the old color separations and went with the original design. The Thorgal logo and those Aztec snakes were prob from the first issue when someone threw it together and it's sitting in a bag at the bottom of a drawer in the printer's shop. You see that kind of lackluster design in a lot of the RPG, indie comics and war boardgame boxes from the 70s and 80s because it was one dude in a garage and he couldn't afford a specialist to do the cover.

These bother me much less, especially the BUG title logo looks pretty good in context. That one, the illustration is pretty clearly composed to fit the title. I have no idea why I also kind of like the Monster logo, maybe because there's a little bit of effort put into blending the lettering into the image and the fact that it's not a standard font. It's not great but it's not bad either. The beauty of Enki Bilal's art goes a long way obviously.

I blankly stared any time some medieval guy would show up in old comics while I read through them. Avengers in particular had this poo poo happen CONSTANTLY. Although I did love when Iron Man and Dr. Doom got transported back to Camelot and Iron Man was immediately all "I would DIE for my King Arthur" and Doom didn't know what the gently caress he just wanted to either take over or get home.

DoomQuest and Recurring Knightmare are both extremely good comic arcs, and the bit where they build a time machine and Doom has an internal monologue about how smart Tony Stark must be if his bodyguard is this good at engineering is such a great moment. Top ten Iron Man story, probably top twenty Doom one.
