Happy birthday Alice. My friend who has a dog (Jack Russell) said he does not celebrate his dog's birthday. Why the hell not? Just want a little bit less joy in your life? Dog birthdays: 1  2  3  4  Annoyingly his birthday is on the 5th of November. Being British that means fireworks. He's not terrified of them, but he doesn't like them and won't settle when they're happening.

I’ve neglected to post our new dog, Callie. She’s a rescue so we don’t know a lot about her history except that she & others were given up by a breeder who was not able to sell his Danes in South Georgia. (Ignore the state of the furniture, another dog has separation anxiety and soothes himself by eating my second hand furniture and disemboweling toys.) She is heartworm positive and has digestive issues. She’s gained some weight since September 1 so she’s now up to 98lbs and she looks much better. The heartworm treatment will start in December if she passes all the tests. She was supposed to be good with cats but that wasn’t exactly true so we are working on it. She’s improved a lot more than I expected since she is not a quick learner. We aren’t sure how old she is. The paperwork says 3 years but the grey makes me think she’s older. She is really rambunctious when she’s not napping, so she might also just be getting prematurely grey. She loves our other two dogs, both Lab mixes, and in the evening they wrestle like it’s their job.

I'd hug every dog in this thread is my own wouldn't get insanely jealous He's not a "big dog" for the purposes of this thread but he is a hefty 55-60 pounds. A perfect medium sized pup.
