Setting up wire guard on a pi at least was straight forward and opened the door for a lot of other stuff beyond just adding downloads and managing my *arrs. I've done away with Plex for remote play (or rather they did away with free remote play) so I just stream directly from my server over vpn now.

And my server dropped off the network overnight, so it wasn’t tailscale causing that at least. Back to the drawing board lol. When lunasea announced it was ending I downloaded Rudarr and it seems ok, but haven’t really messed. Half the time I just use all the services directly anyway but Luna did work nicely.

I downloaded LunaSea way back when but it's always just easier for me to open the actual site and do what I need to do. For VPNs I just setup OpenVPN on my Synology because there wasn't an easy way to deploy tailscale at the time and since the only device that needs it is my phone it works fine. I guess it's worse because of the open port but so far it's been fine.

When stuff like https://www.shodan.io/ exists, it’s worth forwarding ports correctly and not risking random people logging into your stuff You can easily find people on that website with *arr ports open and quite a few don’t even have basic username/password logins set up ![]()

I was running wireguard on my pihole previously and it was easy enough to setup, but about a year ago I upgraded by old unifi gateway (USG-4-PRO) to a UDM-PRO and can now run wireguard right on the gateway.

I spend almost all my time away from home (college student living in college apartments without access to a router) but I am mostly able to get by updating my arrs with my NAS' remote software. It's not a pleasant experience but it works lol

Just saw this, offer valid for the next 2 hours. Not used them before, not sure if this is anything much better than their usual pricing but just in case there’s interest - https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/s/PDO4tquXTh

I use nzb360 on my phone to handle 99% of my day to day usage. I've got it configured with sonarr, radarr and nzbget. I don't remember what I got with pro, but it was cheap enough that I paid for something I use daily. Dyscrasia fucked around with this message at 22:35 on May 8, 2025 |
