Along with the "Calibre hates you if your library is on a network share" issue, last night I discovered the hard way that calibre-web-automated doesn't work out-of-the-box on older Synologies because of kernel limitations. Supposedly it can be done but I had no patience to unravel the rat's nest of "fixes" people have cooked up.

The automation, though, makes it well worth hosting on my NUC rather than with the *arrs &co on my NAS, which I would've preferred.

Pray for me. I just moved and went from a 2Gbps symmetrical fiber connection, to a 500Mbps down, 10Mbps up 5G connection.

Doing my best to get Verizon and the landlord to install FIOS.

I’d be interested in hearing a bit more about this. My general approach is to run as little as humanly possible on the NAS host OS beyond NAS critical operations with the exception of containers to limit potential “fun” from conflicts with the OS and its mission critical services. Are you trying to do things bare metal?

No, via docker - I, too, prefer to pad the metal.

As far as I could surmise from reading around, there are problems with the older DSM kernel running Docker on the Syno and the Calibre binaries shipped in the CWA image. In any case, every configuration I tried last night (clean, dirty and in between) kept ending in "can't find Calibre binaries" errors. Without functioning Calibre binaries the ingest fails at the "add to your library" stage and any other library editing tasks are impossible.

Oops wrong thread, but while I’m here I could probably survive going from my 1gbit to 500mbit but tbe idea of going back to 10mbit up would kill me.

Yeah, no.

It's funny reading all this poo poo, like I don't have a lot of ebooks and now need to toss calibre into my hopper because from my limited use seems like it stuffs 50 copies of a book all over the place.

I did, no regrets, should have done it sooner, the funny thing is I "pay" for 500mb/s, but in real world poo poo I often still get 700+mb/s.

I think NinjaCentral is open too. Just checked my stats on prowlarr and I get a decent amount of grabs from them.

I have never seen any for slug, then again I don't check their website that often either.

Nice thanks. Just signed up. I have geek and nzbfinder as well but geek is coming up due. Think it's worth letting that one lapse now that I have DS?

I use both Geek and DS and I can tell you you’ll be fine with just either one of them.

Here's what I have and some stats, but this is a single point of data, ymmv:

Not sure why i am not grabbing anything of nzbcat ... will have to look into it at some point, if there's an error somewhere.

lol same i forgot i had an account, plugged it into sonarr and i immediately captured a bunch of stuff i’ve been missing for a while now so i guess nzbgeek and drunken slug combo is pretty much all encompassing

I remember setting up Prowlarr once but it didn’t push something to the other *arrs that I figured it would, so it’s basically useless?

Yeah I open Prowlarr maybe once every couple of months when I am looking for something manually and it doesn't just turn up on DrunkenSlug. The last time I actually did anything with it other than using it as intended was whenever I last added some other *arr.

I think the last time i opened it was when it reminded me that my VIP was expiring on an indexer (super handy feature btw).

I’ve been using it for a couple years and it just works .

Yeah, to clarify...it does just work but it gets updated probably 5x as fast as the other tv/movie twins. Just was pissed at indexing warnings and it struggles to clear them. Sort of an OCD thing for me...so all on me...old man ranting at the clouds.

Carry on with grabbing linux isos.

I used to get similarly annoyed until I set hourly (not daily) maximums per indexer. The indexer sites usually show a daily api request limit somewhere, took that divided by 24 and then minus 10 or so to provide some buffer. It still shows a warning when the limit is hit and temporarily disables the indexer but that's unavoidable :(

Daily tended to not line up properly due to clock skew - for DrunkenSlug at least, limits fall off hourly
