Is there any reason to use nzb.su if you already have accounts at nzbs.org and nzbmatrix? Or am I not missing out on much? Also, should my incomplete and complete directories be on the same drive? Right now, I have my complete directory on Z(external) with my In completes on D(secondary internal). I've noticed a lot of incompletes lately(that shouldn't be), that could either be attributed to my external falling 'asleep' or having Completes/in-completes on 2 separate drives. I do know my Z drive falls asleep(or something), because after long periods of inactivity, it hangs up when I click on it, and then seems to access the files. Any way to change this?

It depends on what I'm trying to download but sometimes NZBMatrix will have it before nzbs.org or vice versa. What I found worth the 10 bucks(besides having an alternative), was that users tend to post 100x more comments on NZBMatrix. It helps to know quality, or if it's corrupted.

This is more of a Windows permissions thing but does anyone else have issues with Couchpotato or Sickbeard loading when Windows starts up? Both shortcuts are in my Startup folder with "start as an administrator" checked, yet I manually have to click them which brings a UAC prompt. I have no such problems with SABnzbd, so it must be something stupid that I'm overlooking.

Has anyone managed to configure Sabnzbd++ for Chrome with Sickbeard/Couch Potato? I'm aware of the Sabnzbd++ workaround for the categories(otherwise the Nzbs don't sort correctly). However, if I change the category settings around, it messes up post-processing with Sickbeard.

Kind of a Usenet/hardware hybrid question here. I currently have both my complete and incomplete folders pointed at my external 2TB HD, which is connected to my PC via eSATA. However I'm about to buy a SSD for my primary boot(80-120GB depending on price). My question is, would it speed things up to put the Incomplete folder on the SSD while it extracts, deletes, and then transfers to the completed folder on the external via eSATA? Or is the entire process CPU-dependent and its not worth separating the folders on different drives? tldr I basically want to know if its worth putting my complete/incomplete folders on an SSD and transferring the media after. So I'm not sure, and if I'm wrong correct me, but I is it possible that Comcast is throttling me via ports? I have Comcast Business but I recently had Supernews set to 563(SSL). I gave my PC a restart, and no joy on Usenet, yet I could access the regular web. So I switched my SABnzbd port to 443(SSL) and then the SABnzbd downloads start again.

Yeah it's definitely weird because all regular browsing will be fine yet I had to switch ports to get Usenet up and running again.

My situation is the same as yours except I have no problem seeing things appear soon after EST times while on the west coast. The only difference I can think of is that my Sickbeard is set to search every 10 minutes along with a custom quality filter(grab standard, replace with HD later). Perhaps try messing with those?

Everything else said about business class is accurate, although I'm not sure if they're gonna restrict you from signing up again. Oh! If they'll let you, see if you can get a vanilla modem instead of the gateway. The gateway they give you has a router/modem combo and causes all types of double NAT hell when paired with your wireless router.

What does everyone use a manual scraper for metadata? Couch Potato usually does a pretty good job of naming stuff but I usually have less processed stuff with Sickbeard. Getting TV shows to be properly organized in XBMC is a pain sometimes. CP is good because even if I get a movie from another source, say ripping it from DVD, I can put it in my CP processing folder and it'll snatch it right up. With SB, processing only seems to work if I queue it up from SABnzbd(unless I'm doing it wrong). EconOutlines fucked around with this message at 23:26 on Oct 22, 2011 |

I think its been Supernews for awhile now in terms of price and retention. $10 for 1000+ days, and they're a Giganews reseller. I've also had that problem, where I had no/minimal connection until switching SSL ports. My guess is its ISP related but I can't prove it.

For those of you using xsusenet and blocknews as supernews backups, do you have both enabled? Should they be in any particular order? I'd rather they pull the necessary blocks from the [free] xsusenet account first if possible.

Well, after messing around with MediaBrowser/WMC7 for the last few days, I'm back to XMBC/SickBeard/CoachPotato combo. Using different scrapers and doing metadata manually is a pain compared to the ease of those 3 programs together.

IDK, I've been having problems with metadata in general as of late. Hell, XMBC won't even read the NFOs from CouchPotato half the time(missing art or description), although it could be the fact that I'm using Eden. But if I clear out everything but the movie and let XBMC scrape everything, all is well. Maybe I'm doing something wrong with MediaBrowser or WMC7, but their built in scrapers suck compared to XBMC.

I(and I assume many others) are having this same problem. Not sure if its something with Eden or maybe how CouchPotato writes the NFO files now. Even a lot of the 'manual' media scrapers have been hit or miss for me in XBMC. Sickbeard shows appear perfectly for me as well. For movies, the only 'workaround' I've found is to uncheck 'Get Metadata' in CP, allow it to rename/clean up the download, and use XBMC's internal movie scraper instead of local NFO files.

BlackRider posted:Is there ANYTHING you can do if the scene thinks a show is on season 5 but some official site nobody follows (except thetvdb) says it's season 4 causing sickbeard to download old episodes? I have them paused so it doesn't but it really takes away from the experience. I've had this happen a few times and its a pain. Thankfully, its usually only with non-current stuff. Anyways, like you said, if the scene thinks 'This Awesome Show' is Season 5, but SB/TVDB says its Season 4, the only way I've found is manually doing it. Basically, turning off SB with all episodes marked as skipped, manually downloading all the episodes and renaming them SB style. So "This.Awesome.Show.S05E06.720p.REXXXORX-WRZF" to something like "This Awesome Show - 04x06", starting SB up again and running manual post-processing to get NFOs, etc. It sucks with anything current because you obviously would have to do that every time... Thanks! I'll give it a try and see how it plays out. In other news, I've stopped using Blocknews for the most part for backup, due to it getting raped without my knowledge. I bought a 50GB chunk, and set it up to download a few NZBs overnight. Turns out 3 of the 5 NZBs I queued up were completely nuked from the Supernews server. So, I ended up eating up 20GB of Blocknews due to them being fully intact there. Since sabnzbd is [mainly] automated, anyone know of a way to set it as a backup with a MB limit? I don't mind it grabbing 100-500MB of missing/incomplete files but not an entire post. For now I'm sticking with free xsusenet for backup.

This is a triple XBMC/Usenet/Hardware question. Sometimes I'll be watching a movie and a movie from CP will start downloading. However, when SABnzbd goes into the verify phase, my movie shorts out for a few minutes and says buffering. My guess is that because my incomplete/complete folders are on the same drive, the transfer bandwidth is being exceeded. I have an SSD, a 640GB 7200 drive and two 2TB Green drives. Both incomplete and complete are on the same green drive. So should I put the incomplete on the SSD or 7200 drive with the complete on the green? If anything, I'll try it out anyways when I have time to run a few trials but I'm just curious about SH/SC's viewpoint.

Just a word on block accounts, watch what you download, particularly older stuff. Usually, when places like Supernews get a DMCA request, they'll pull a few blocks and a blocknews account will handle it. However, depending on the post, an entire post will be nuked on Supernews/Giganews but work fine on blocknews. I ate up 30 GB or so of my block the hard way a few times. :-/

Some of the stuff I grab is like that and Giga/Super tend to nuke the whole post vs removing a few rar files. I removed my blocknews from SABnzbd due to this because I'd come back later with 8GB missing from my block. A lot of comments on the NZB sites indicate that Astraweb is better for this with less harsh/complete DMCA takedowns overall, plus using their EU servers. I think I'll give them a shot this month and see if my Giga failed downloads work on their servers.

I've had some weird issues with CP V2 Renaming the last month or so. It won't rename any downloads until it is given a manual restart. File(s) will sit in Downloads/unprocessed for hours until I restart. Suddenly *poof* Boxcar sends out crazy alerts and everything is processed to downloads/processed folder. I tried a fresh install from Git today with no luck. The only other thing it could be is that I'm using pooled storage in Flexraid (5x2TB HD). However, I've been using Flexraid for almost 3 months with no CP issues and Sickbeard Post-Processing works fine. I guess I'll make 2 folders on my SSD drive and see if it still requires the restart to be sure. Frustrated to say the least. Edit: I didn't manage to find a direct answer to problem but a pretty easy work around. Since SABnzbd now supports python scripts for post-processing, you can use the one made for CouchPotato without a dedicated .exe. Just replace your version of python with the ActivePython 2.7.2.5 (32 bit) one and it should work fine. EconOutlines fucked around with this message at 08:36 on Aug 28, 2012 |
