Finally found and ordered one of these for an only moderately painful price: https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-scorpion-evo-3-s1-pistol-w-flash-can/

He's got a couple sets of H grips too.

Although to be honest they don't look very comfortable. Don't know what whoever made them was thinking. If fully checkered isn't on the table, I'd rather have them just be smooth than have some weird raised middle section that's checkered. It's like the opposite of a palm swell.

Not a ton. The barrel does get hot under constant fire but most of the heat comes from the gas block which is right under your thumb if you c-clamp. Better to shoot with gloves.

Hey all, I'm looking for a holster for an SP01 with TLR1 attached and was wondering if anybody had any recommendations. I currently have a Bladetech holster but the belt loops are mounted in such a way that the pistol stands off from my hip by an inch or two.

I'm looking for this style of holster, kydex, with belt loops recessed slightly to keep it closer to the hip. (Is this a "pancake" holster?)

So I'm looking at grabbing a CZ Scorpion Evo 3 S1 Pistol variant. Found one for a okay price. I have a good stock on 9mm and would rather not try to track down 5.56/223 for a decent price on top of my other ammos types if I grabbed a AR in the current environment

Curious what brace is recommended by most people and/or must have accessories?

Edit: seems like the SBTEVO will be the brace I go for
Seems like there are some common tweaks people recommend and/or like
Eyeing changing a safety change, trigger spring change the grip, charging handle tweaked, different mag release

If you want, I can sell you my old SB Tactical brace for a bit under MSRP.

Also yeah definitely get the trigger upgraded, the factory one is pretty heavy and rough. Strike Industries makes a nice looking grip (with storage!), and I like my Manticore Arms extended charging handle and HBI mag release and mini-AK style safety lever.

A friend was asking me about the cz-10, and I had nothing to tell him since I've only had the 75, and I've been out of the hobby for several years now. I did a forum search but wasn't able to come up with anything.

Does anyone here have a 10, what's the general opinion about it? Is there a good cz forum?

So Cajun Gun Works is running a 10% off orders over $50 for this weekend. Figure it's time to get some upgrades for my Shadow 2.

If I change anything, will it still be production legal for USPSA? I eventually want to try and compete with it, and don't want to wreck myself.

Awhile ago, a goon gave some great advice on what parts were worth it and what to skip. I thought I saved the file, but apparently I did not. I remember that the large kit wasn't worth it, and to just get some parts instead.

Looking over their site, I was considering:
The 3 piece spring kit: https://cajungunworks.com/product/spgk1-3-piece-spring-kit-2/ that has a #13lb hammer spring

Their ultralight kit (springs and the firing pin which I couldn't find as a separate item:
https://cajungunworks.com/product/54460-ultra-lite-kit-for-shadow-and-85-series/

And a reduced power return spring:
https://cajungunworks.com/product/rptrs-reduced-power-trigger-return-spring/

Anything I should add or avoid?

As another happy owner, here's the list that was provided to me:
  • t5 disconnector,
  • extended firing pin (you got this in the ultralight kit)
  • floating trigger pin
  • reduced power trigger return spring (you got this)
  • reduced power hammer spring (you got this in the ultralight kit)
  • reduced power recoil spring

The 3 piece spring kit there says it isn't made for Shadow 2s; it's got a firing pin block spring in there that you don't need, and the hammer spring is in the ultralight kit anyway, which also includes the extended firing pin. The t5 disconnector is here, which helps with the DA pull. This trigger pin makes putting the reduced power trigger return spring back into the gun much less of a pain in the butt. As for recoil springs, you can try them all out or get an individual one.

The shadow 2, non-optic ready. I saw some people on other boards mention the reach reduction kit making their trigger feel mushy which was concerning.

Ah, I don't have the RRK myself but I kind of wish I did, CZ Custom sells a flat trigger that I think would be nice but it needs a disconnector from either the CGW RRK or from CZC. I can say the SRS still leaves the reset kind of long compared to striker guns.

frunksock

I guess you figured it out, but that should all be production legal. In general you can do whatever to 'internal' parts (anything you can't see with the gun in battery), except you can't defeat a safety. And then there's a big list of stuff you *can* see with the gun in battery that you're still allowed to change, which includes the trigger and hammer and firing pin.

Be aware that the extended firing pin probably makes the gun *extremely* not drop-safe. There's some debate about how not drop-safe it already is stock, but either way, the extended FP results in the FP protruding proud of the breach face with the hammer at rest in the down position (according to people on brianenos forums), which is obviously super duper mega not drop safe. See the last page or two of competition thread for details.

What are the differences between your final order there and the kit? It looks like maybe the race hammer? What does that do for a S2? The S2's SA pull weight is already pretty nice stock, right?

ZarathustraFollower
Mar 14, 2009

Lipstick Apathy

I miss out on the race hammer and the sear spacer, and in return get a wider variety of springs to try and I think the reach reduction kit isn't in the base shadow 2 package.

I didn't see the need for the hammer, so I skipped it. Yeah, the drop issue is definitely something to watch out for, thanks for the heads up.

FYI if anyone else ever gets a bullpup kit for their Scorpion don't bother putting in an improved trigger spring kit. I just put the HB Industries kit in mine and it caused the trigger to be unable to reliably reset. Was kind of afraid that might happen but there's not much info out there on these so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Also it's a ton of fun and very easy to shoot in the configuration I've got mine in. I was having some ejection issues but I think I've resolved it. Went through three 32 round magazines last time I shot it with zero malfunctions.

I had the same problem with the first HBI spring kit in mine, and it's not a bullpup. Apparently some of them are just fussy on resetting

Any advantage to getting the Bren 2 with the 14" barrel over the 11"? I am leaning towards the 7.62/39 version, if that helps.

No benefit really, marginal increase of 7.62 velocity between 11 and 14" is like 100fps. But probably not the right time to buy a Bren 2, they're all super overgassed and CZ is working on a solution (likely new gas plug).

Finished installing all the CGW parts in my Shadow 2 today. Had to fit the disconnector and took about 4 tries to finish sanding off just enough. Only put the set screw in the top, and should eventually go back and polish the internals to push it even further. Going to try and get to the range in the next few days and try a mix of 9 to see if I need to use a heavier mainspring or not.

Don't really care about that, I can just install the new plug when it comes out. Thanks for the tip on the velocity. Realistically I'm not gonna be shooting past 100yds so sounds like 11" would do the trick

the first gen evo 3s were a cool gun wrapped in a number of questionable decisions, they eventually fixed most of them. theres reason to believe they'll eventually mold it into a solid rifle. its a shame to see them adopt the PSA method of using their customers to beta test...and im not sure it helps matters that they didnt seem to intend to do that. Oh well.

Personally i'm more than willing to consult for Cz-USA on what US gun owners want in the bren 2. I would say--just make the military model semi auto. No weird gas plugs, no loving mlok foreend, just literally give us what the mil gets minus the giggle switch. Even in the pandemic we can buy okay ARs for $600. Nobody is buying this loving thing to hunt with or as their HD rifle or whatever. They want it bc the military uses it and it's a cheaper way to get a SCAR. Don't loving overthink it!

Looks like they sell 24 inch American and Lux style, as well as 20 inch Varmint (heavy barrel) style. You can get the Varmint style in either unthreaded or threaded.

I think the Lux has a front iron sight so unless you love the look or already have a Lux then you wanna go with the American or Varmint. I'm not sure if the extra 4" of barrel will add any extra velocity for such a small cartridge (look it up to be sure) and if it doesn't then it's just going to be in the way with no purpose but aesthetics on a rifle without iron sights. So I'd probably go with the Varmint. I'd also probably spend the extra $10 for the threaded barrel in case you ever decide to get a suppressor. Even if you know you'll never get a suppressor it's probably worth more than $10 in increased resale value if you ever sell the gun. It'll cost a lot more to get the barrel threaded after the fact if you get the unthreaded barrel and change your mind down the road.

Watch these two videos if you haven't already for barrel change instructions and torque values for getting the gun back together:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbAkTIQX2bw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scLMxR8SXmo
And here's one if you decide you want to mess with the trigger settings:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiUVoqf5AiY
I think the stock trigger is alright so I probably wouldn't mess with it right away unless you're a big time tinkerer. But you might as well take a look at how everything works while you've got it apart!
