I love these guns, but I can't help thinking I won't be happy with how thin the slide is (vertically). Are you bothered by the relative lack of grip space to actuate the slide (say, compared to a 1911)?

I have never had a problem with this. I have not even though about it until I read your post.

Went shooting today and alternated between an USP and my CZ. The USP felt like a toy compared to the Shadow. Also I did not notice any problem racking the slide in my CZ compared to the USP.

SP-01 holster choices for competition? I know bladetech makes one and double alpha makes one, but is that it? I like how the double alpha one looks and the fact that it is suede lined so it wont gently caress up the finish like both my 1911s have.

I use the ghost holster

Testing the DPM recoil reducing guide rod and spring for the CZ 75 SP01. The gun with the wooden grips has the fancy DPM spring system and the one with black grips has stock rod and spring.

Conclusion is that you can feel a slight recoil reduction. Not worth the money imho but whatever, toys are always nice!

FFFFF I want one so bad it hurts. I just can't bear to think of spending all of my gun funds for the next year in one place.

edit: huh. The Shadows have a wider hammer, which makes them incompatible with Kadet kits.

That is strange. I have a friend who has the kadet kit and uses it on the shadow he owns.

I tried the kadett kit in my Shadow the other day. Worked flawlessly. I shot ~20 shots @ 25meters and everything went where I pointed the gun.

Also pictured is the DPM recoil reduction system.

I still need a riser for the aimpoint, but that can wait.

Yes, get the shadow if you are not going to use it as a carry weapon or something. Metal beats polymer!

Might as well post my Shadow in its pretty dress:

If I was gonna go polymer CZ I'd check out the P07 too, those look pretty nifty and are fairly inexpensive even in Canada. We get them with the extended barrel to make the length restriction so they look even cooler, imo.

What is the chance that something goes wrong with that carbine kit and the gun comes loose without you realizing it? It seems like it would be pretty easy to shoot your support hand off if you didn't have the gun lined up correctly.

Basically zero. You lock it in place with a twist thing in the front top part of the kit. You would have to unlock it to remove the gun.

Heh, Short version: Guy at my club is my country's Sphinx re-seller.

Long: Over here (Sweden) with waiting times, various bureaucratic rigmarole and whatnot ...you kinda (or at least I did) want to "get it right the first time". There's nothing stopping you from getting a bunch of 9mm's over time, but the process is quite involved so getting precisely what I wanted made sense at the time.

As to what they offer, I'd say it's all personal preference, in my case that meant getting as much gun as I could. The Sphinx is just about ready right out of the box (or soft case hurr). Fit, finish, controls, sights, trigger, accuracy ...it's just done.

It's fairly close to "bespoke", you pick what type of frame: all steel, steel/titanium, steel/aluminium (my gun-steel upper-aluminium lower frame), grooves, finish, sights, left/right configuration, anything really.

Is it "better"? Hard to say, I prefer the controls, grip, weight, sights, trigger, accuracy (read most everything) on mine compared to a stock CZ75 but again that's just my preference, and honestly an unfair comparison (the TS is just about on par, but didn't fit me). I'm a big fan of the CZ "family", it's what got me going in this direction in the first place, the Sphinx just ups it a notch.

As to parts, smaller manufacturer, closer tolerances, "Made in Switzerland-fee"? Getting them isn't that big of a deal though, since they're "local" and all.

Nämen hejsan fellow Swedish TFR goon. Where are you located? I have a CZ75 SP01 Shadow I use for IPSC here in Stockholm. I usually hang around Ormen psk/ballongberget, UVPSK and out in Rosersberg but mostly rifleshooting there unless I am competing.

How does it feed? Better than the other giant one you had? These 18 rounders are neat, but if I can, why not put half a box of ammo into a single mag and make this thing even heavier?

Also, other SP-01 people, do your 18 mags rattle when fully loaded? I could entertain a baby all day shaking these things. Downloaded one round they don't rattle as much. My PCR mags never did this. Is there anything I can do about this?

I have not tried it yet. I will asap. But this one is a cz original so it should be fine. The other ones where awful american bs versions.
