sweet gun but the safety sucked, the DA trigger was like 20lbs, and I didn't like the non-existent customer service. also jammed frequently and had problems both with feeding and extraction. Sold it to pay for another glock. It was a loving sweet shooter though.

I've shot a couple Witnesses and haven't come across the feeding/extracting issues myself. You're right about the DA trigger though.

If you do see a Witness for pretty cheap bucks, they're worth it. They're tack-drivers, and with a little work they run great.

I've been looking at getting a CZ 550 American. I'll be using it mostly for target shooting, but want the option of using it for hunting. I'm trying to decide between .308 and 30-06. Any suggestions? I have an Israeli K98 in 7.62 NATO, so I'm leaning towards getting the CZ in .308 for a common-ish calibre and reloading reasons.

What are you hunting?

Feral Goats and Pigs, the biggest animal would be a Sambar Deer, maybe a few times a year, otherwise paper and steel gongs. If I were to go to the Northern Territory for Water Buffalo or scrub bulls, I'd be going with friends who already own CZ Safaris in .375 and .458.

If you're choosing between the two you listed earlier, then yeah I'd roll .308 and I would absolutely reload.

Hey 452 peeps, is there a guide online to touching up the factory trigger I'm not seeing? I could have sworn they were able to be cleaned up a bit but maybe I'm wrong.

Call them about the 455 and ask? They have 5 of the 452 left.

Barring that, Midway and Boyd's probably have stocks.

I've seen pictures of these but I was not aware any were ever imported into the US.

I saw one a number of years ago. They did get stateside but I think it was a very small number of them.

Get the CZ. For the money it's a ton better. Jerichos aren't bad but they're just giant bricks that work as range toys and little else.

Good point, considering the P-07 is gonna be for carry (and to give my Pre-B a break)

Oh god, then yeah the P-07 is the clear choice. Carrying a Jericho is possible but not really worth the trouble given how big and heavy it is.

Thanks a ton for the pics. They are exactly what I needed. The shield and G27 made a perfect comparison. CCW hasn't quite surfaced in the great state of Illinois and it's been troublesome finding a variety of pistols to try on. The CZ PCR is listed as 1.38" wide and and G27 as 1.18". I'm 5'10" and about 140lbs myself. It was hard to tell where CZ was taking their measurements or what difference it would make IWB. The PCR may suit me better than the P01 as I have no need for the rail and the factory grips would be replaced with something slimmer. The Shield is still in my top 3 but loses points for the thumb safety and current recall issues. Sure seems like a lot of gun for much less money than the CZ. The Baby Glocks exacerbate all my issues with full size Glocks. As much as I appreciate their function they were not built for my hands, although the trigger was pretty good on the last Gen4 I handled.

Just for fun, have you tried a Walther PPS?

DJExile
Jun 27, 2007

TobyLerone posted:

No, the PPS wasn't on my radar and I haven't seen any at stores or gun shows. How does it compared to the standard offerings? It always reminded me of the Springfield XDs (now that I've compared specs it does so even more) and that wasn't high on my list for having both a rail and a grip safety. Less is more. Unless it's payload and then more is better. My starter ccw around the property has been a Taurus TCP with a cheap Desantis pocket tuck and a Guru wallet holster. Even something that size has been much more comfortable IWB than pocket carry.

I guess if a much larger 14+1 metal frame compact can be justified for ccw then perhaps I should overlook the rail. I'm a revolver man at heart, I just want more capacity.

There's no grip safety on the PPS. It's a single-stack glock, basically.

Loves long walks on the beach and Eley Subsonic HP's.

Now my interest is piqued on CZ. I currently have a USP I'm in the process of selling and the CZ85 Combat is calling me. I can't find one to hold in the Seattle area yet so hopefully someone can tell me how the grip on the 85 compares to a full size USP. I'm really after something thinner and maybe longer. Basically, I want my Buckmark but in 9mm form. I know the aftermarket aluminum grips really take the width down, I'm just looking for confirmation.
