Because people want/expect this to be an "iPhone killer" and want/expect the requisite lines that go with an iPhone launch, except that pretty much no one but techies are actually waiting for it since a new BEST EVER! Android phone is launched every other week. Hell, my one Android loving friend had literally never heard of this until I mentioned it to him and was looking at a RAZR.

It's mostly a no-brainer. Ignoring cost, Applecare+ lets you walk into an Apple store and walk out with a new phone, and it covers warranty issues (non-damage stuff) for two years. Verizon's insurance will generally require you to send it off and wait on them making sure it's a covered problem or whatever. It looks like Verizon covers lost/stolen phones, though, if you have a tendency to lose things, so that might be worth taking into account.

It's functually the same as when a restaurant adds gratuity to your bill. That isn't a tax, it's the restaurant's charge whichvis why they explicitly stated it in a menu. Yeah, got it. That's certainly a bit different. Still, for $0.20 a month, I have little surprise Verizon would rather offer you a credit for the remainder.

I just took a survey the other day suggesting that they're going to combine data among multiple devices. I basically said I wouldn't choose any of them since they're all horribly expensive compared to what I have now.

Well, for starters you're being charged for one month plus most of a second month which was prorated. If you look at *just* the stuff for one month, it comes out to $59.98 ($9.99+30+10+9.99). If you're on a family plan, you should be able to share texts. The iPhone isn't unique in that and you should call Verizon immediately and have it fixed.

Also it will almost certainly get whatever the next big version of Android is. There's no promises a Droid RAZR Maxx will.

So, let's say I'm on a tiered plan right now. Post June 28, when my next upgrade comes around, will I be able to keep my current plan or will I have to switch to a Share Everything plan? The new plan will increase my bill by around 50% for half the data. I don't use many minutes and use Google Voice for text, so those being unlimited are worthless to me.

I want to port my Google Voice number back into Verizon (I'm an iPhone user and there's a number of features that don't really work with GV, and the GV features aren't all that useful to me), but I still have over a year left on my contract. Can I just port it in right now or will I have to wait until my contract is up?

The S3 and 4S use the same camera, I'm pretty sure, although there's some reports that some S3s are getting an inferior Samsung unit instead of the Sony unit of the others, but I don't know how true or prevalent that is.

Thanks everybody for pointing out that basically I don't have to switch to share everything, that will make our next 2 years much cheaper, then who knows what will be available in another 2 years. Nothing that is available in the future will ever be better than what you currently have unless your situation changes.

There's probably one or two families and maybe even some individuals for which the new plans actually save money, but I'm guessing those cases are few and far between.
