Just a heads up, Verizon does infact charge you for outgoing texts from Google Voice. They are considered out of network texts. So...yeah..you're not getting free texting with google voice as I've found out.

Edit: Hang on, are you using the actual Google Voice app? I know for sure that's data only.

I text far more than that through GV. Those 8 are from me using shortcodes (because Google Voice doesn't support it) for that Taco Bell/PS Vita thing and the local transit authority schedule and one from VZW.

Nope, most manufacturer warranties do not move on new owners if the product is used.

Is there an easy way to port my number to Google Voice for full integration under Verizon? I've heard of a twenty dollar fee to keep my number and such but I'm wondering if it will affect my contract in general. I am on a family plan with unlimited data so I would like to maintain those as they are right now.

I only did it when my contract with another carrier was over with that I ported my number to GV. I'd give customer support a call, porting a number out of their system usually means you're canceling your contract and subject to ETF. I'm fairly sure you can change out the number, but keeping your old one could be an issue...

It works just fine. Granted I ported my number to Google before starting my service with Verizon. Could you elaborate on how it works as you say, "like poo poo"? I get all my voice mail and text messages the moment they occur. I maybe missing out on MMS messages, but it's not a deal breaker as I rarely use it and prefer other methods for people to send me pictures anyways.

That's actually included in the new plans in a no longer unlimited way. They won't be charging for mobile hotspots. So if you have a phone that supports it, then you're covered.

Has there been any recent news on Verizon's voice over LTE plans?

The leaks coming out for the new iPhone show only a 1440 mAh battery which is only a hair bigger than the 4S.

We also know Apple will not let an LTE phone out the door if it will have crap battery life, as they've said as much before. However it sounds like LTE in the phone is a foregone conclusion. If the phone needs to keep both radios hot so voice calls can come in, I'd have to imagine that a LTE iPhone with a Thunderbolt-sized battery would still offer something more along the lines of Thunderbolt-quality battery life as opposed to what people expect from an iPhone.

So what are the odds that Apple & the carriers will pull a rabbit out of their hats at the grand reveal here and say they're running VoLTE starting with the iPhone?

The thing that makes me think this is maybe in the works, beyond the battery size, is this set of localized warning messages that got dug out of iOS this spring. One mentions disabling 4G would terminate a call in progress, and obviously if VoLTE were used, turning off LTE would kill any call done over the LTE connection.

There's been months worth of rumors that Apple will be using newer Qualcomm chips with lower power consumption. The new panels have been rumored to use less power as well.

Quick question. My girlfriend took advantage of the trade in deal, the Verizon rep said she would get 650 for her 5S trade in, she waited a week to send it in and she was talking to the rep and he told her that the credit had gone down from 450 to 350, so they're saying it will only be a 350 credit now for her trade in and she was told 650 at the start, any idea what's going on here and if we have a leg to stand on?

Rep was wrong on all counts. 5S would have gotten her $400 dollars to start. $650 was for the 6/+ and 6S/+ only. When was the phone ordered? The deal ended on 9/30 and any trade in for that line should have been applied to that order date.

Looking at buying an iPhone 7 128GB. On Verizon's site they list 3 options - the pay $200, add $31 on to your bill monthly option, retail price of $750 option and one that says it is $300 with 2 year contract.

Now I remember the old days where you agreed to a two year contract, paid $200 and your monthly bill was not broken out but was about $30 more than it should be so you still paid for the phone.

And nowadays your bill is just for service and then you can buy the phone and they add $30 a month for two years in an interest free financing situation - basically the same as before but with no contract - if you leave the remaining balance is due.

So what's the catch for this $300 deal? Since they refuse to show details, I'm reading it as you pay for half the phone and have the same contract, thus getting a half price phone in exchange for a guaranteed 2 years of you not leaving. It doesn't make sense. The only way I can square it is they pay $450 to keep you for two years instead of losing someone and needing a $650 buyout for a new customer. Or is the new contract just 450/24 more than your current month to month contract?

$40 line access fee instead of $20.
