This whole thread keeps on giving since I started to read it. That was around the time it only had 100 pages. Anyway I have one question about the concept of liberarianism. (Is that the right term?) Isn't the whole idea of having no regulations basically how the industrial revolution worked? Because as I recall, that was not exactly the ideal to strife for. Workers where exploited and literary pushed to death, while no person actually cared for the enviorment. Is the libertarian reason for these problems, that there where just to much regulations? Would they argue, that taxes forced the company owners to exploit the people, in order to survive? I just can't get my head behind this concept. But then again, I grew up in a country which is more regulated than the USA. So maybe I am just biased? On second thought, I probably shouldn't try to understand this.

So if I understand this right, it is a huge self delusion, which states that freedom! is the solution to every problem in the world. I just can't relate to this at all. The other thing I don't get is that they seem to be true patriots. Aren't these people basically saluting towards a flag while they burn it? Every thought experiment about this society ends in tragedy. The thing which scares me the most is, that it probably makes perfect sence to them. I kind of want to know how their brains work, because it seems so bizarre. Yet I also fear for my sanity. So I guess these people are on the same level as Solarspawn for me. Edit: Anyway enough about this ideology derail. I keep reading on this forum, that one could doublespend with 51% of the processing power. But aren't all transaction verified 8 times or something? Would this mean, that you only have a 1/28=1/256 chance to double spend, at about half of the total hashrate?

So the 50% border is purely fictional? It wouldn't matter if you had 49,999% or 50,001% at all. That is sort of interesting. This thread teached me so much random stuff. I never thought, I would learn about South Korean visa laws around here, but I somehow did.

^^^^^ Ah thanks. That clears it up somewhat. But doesn't the TEA party want these ridiciulus extremes as well? I can relate to the semilibertanian types. Of course every country does stuff it shouldn't really do, wasting money in the process. I can also see why the American drinking laws are weird. It is really not comparable to Germany. Though I don't really think, that it is an excuse for the police to put one down, but rather an extend to Americas prudeness. I genuinely belive they think, that they are acting for the good of the children.Dex posted:IIRC, some libertarian idiot(possibly Atlas) wrote an effort post proposing separating cities entirely, so you could live in City A if you disagree with the policies of City B and so on. Wow are you serious? Because the GDR worked out magically and barely anyone who wanted to cross the Berlin border was shot. But then again, the start of the city seperation recently had its 50th aniversity. Guys it's okay. All this curency needs is a pump and dump sheme by a celebrity, preferably Justin Bieber, so more girls enter the comunity. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=37520.0 I realise, that the author wasn't 100 percent serious, but he still gets some support from the thread. What anoys me the most, is that people still claim, that this is suposed to be a curency. Noone would want a pump and dump sheme in a curency.

And if you want a price graph, just go over to http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/mtgoxUSD.html. To get the full chart, click on it. By the way. Does anyone know what happened in october? There was a huge spike in market depth back then.

Price hit 8$ again. What makes me wonder is, that there is a constant presure downwards, even though there are fairly few asks. Maybe MtGox decided to turn some of the asks invisible, so it looks, as if there was actually some demand. If that is true, it is actually kind of smart (in a self destructing way). If one looks at this market depth, he could assume that the price would adjust up. Unfortunatly there isn't really a way to test this, unless someone drops a large amount of BTC, while anouncing it. Or maybe a market of about 2000 BTC is all there is to it, while the bidwalls make it look legit.
