I'm not going to fault anyone for enjoying a particular aesthetic, but isn't it rather weird to group together quite musically dissimilar artists on the basis that they all use synths that sound like old video games? If that single characteristic trumps all other compositional factors enough to warrant this, then it strikes me that the people who enjoy the genre must have a rather shallow relationship with the music. If not, why not discuss each artist in their respective genre thread as indicated by the music's other qualities, rather than lumping everything together on such a superficial basis? (Apologies if this has been discussed before in the old thread, but I don't have archives.)
