Hell yeah! Oddly enough, Uematsu composed an 18th-century style Gavotte, a musical form originally for the dance of the same name. Although he orchestrates it kinda strangely (understandable for a game) he actually writes some quite passable counterpoint, which is a pretty unusual thing for a Japanese game composer to do.

Loving this LP, by the way. Have to admit, Costa del Sol is what got me into Bossa Nova, picked up the album Wave not long after my first runthrough and never looked back.

Gavottes suck, sarabandes 4 lyfe, fool.

When I played this game as a kid, Uematsu's work was super captivating, despite the fakey synths used. I can probably credit this game's music for giving me the realization that there's cool music beyond the radio, weirdly enough.

That said, gently caress the gold saucer theme, that melody is annoying as hell to me for some reason.
