I still think FF7 was a good game, and one of the better Final Fantasy games in the line up, though it becomes hard to defend with the spinoffs and legions of scary fans. I've always wondered why Square chose to shift from Amano's art to Nomura's in FF7. Is there more of a story behind it than Square wanting to shake things up?
