Waaait, are these 2 quotes from the same person? How does that fit? Also, how does that even apply to Japanese-English translation, especially when all you have to go on are artbooks etc. - materials written by Japanese who didn't know English and in some cases badly mangled names that are then repeated religiously because "OMG the Devs wrote it that way!!1!  " No you moron, the devs wrote it in Japanese script and every transcription already changes the text. And given the mess that is the FF7 fan base, bringing translation theory is an even bigger  than usually. But hey, it's not my grave he's digging.What I want to say is, the Final Fantasy fanbase as a whole can go gently caress itself.
