A more useless combination would be 4x Bahamut Zero. I used it back when I was stupid, cast it and go make a sandwich. Eat it, digest and go poo poo it out, when you've finished the animation will be like halfway done.

I dunno the enemy skills seem to have been "balanced" by obscurity or difficulty of getting them. Without a guide the only way you'd see magic hammer or big guard is by manipulating basically every enemy (and a failed roll looks exactly the same as trying it on something invulnerable to it) and casting all their poo poo on yourself.

You seem to have forgotten White Wind, but essentially yes.

Can't wait for more. I'm quite curious about some things you've said about the pre-rendered backgrounds. I thought that pre-rendered meant the render was stored as a static image or movie of sorts and it just puts it on the screen when you come to it, but you've made it sound like the game is running pre-rendered stuff in active 3D, like the lego character models? I didn't understand that. 'Splanation, mayhaps?

You missed one layer: There's the prerendered image/movie, and an invisible 3d layer that handles the actual movement, like going up/down ladders and stuff. It's way better visible in FF8, esp. when these two get shifted in relation to each other. And then there's the actual visible 3d of character models.

Waaait, are these 2 quotes from the same person? How does that fit? Also, how does that even apply to Japanese-English translation, especially when all you have to go on are artbooks etc. - materials written by Japanese who didn't know English and in some cases badly mangled names that are then repeated religiously because "OMG the Devs wrote it that way!!1! :byodood:" No you moron, the devs wrote it in Japanese script and every transcription already changes the text. And given the mess that is the FF7 fan base, bringing translation theory is an even bigger :can: than usually. But hey, it's not my grave he's digging.

What I want to say is, the Final Fantasy fanbase as a whole can go gently caress itself.

Yeah. If you're willing to stand for the original, going so far as to derive the devs' intention from the background material which was often mangled (and which was probably going to get you a lot of criticism), you better have definitive arguments for changing anything. Voted in? WTF?

I stopped reading when the project author/coordinator started throwing ad-hominem equivalents at the general fanbase. If he can't defend his side, I'm not gonna read pre-emptive attacks on mine. Pity, it could be a good project.

ed: Oh, wait, he's complaining about the "liberal elite". This could be good.
Also, a lot of typos for someone who writes how he doesn't like British English because it changed its orthography over the years.
People don't talk like that. "The writer decides that, it's not the translator's job". A few pages later, he turns the same exact words around.
