A lot has been said about the ocarina and a little about the recorder. But I don't think they've been compared. Is one much easier than the other? What are the disadvantages and advantages?

The talk about where to buy a hurdy gurdy reminded me of this website: http://www.harpkit.com/ They sell a lot of different instruments both fully assembled and in kits. The hurdy gurdy kit is $599. Understandably, its assembly is rated at a high level of difficulty. They sell kits for a lot of other instruments that have been or could have been mentioned in this thread, like the kantele, lyre, harp, dulcimer, etc. I've never bought from them, so I don't know what their quality is.

While, hindsight sure is 20-20. Ever since reading this thread, I had been interested in a dulcimer but never interested enough to buy one. I could afford one, I just wasn't willing to spend the money on something that was just a curiosity. Today I re-read the beginning of the thread. Looking at the cardboard dulcimers, I thought they're so cheap it might not matter if I rarely play it. Then I realized I had a box for a .22 cal rifle that's right about the size and shape of a dulcimer body. Hey, this dulcimer's going to be super cheap and mostly homemade! Then I realized the box got thrown out a couple of weeks ago. Oh, well.

Please do. I might be doing that soon. I want to see what they're like from a customer. Which rosette did you pick?
