I think this will be explained away eventually when we discover something like:

A. They were constructed super quickly, OR
B. They're just giant rings intentionally because keeping the titans out wasn't their main purpose.

It just doesn't make sense to me that Eren's titan could beat up Donkey Kong, not alone at least. just the size/strength difference is crazy enough, it'd need to be some large scale planned attack and lots of people would probably die in the process

edit: also we're still waiting for Bert to make his grand entrance and the wall titans to maybe do something, yeah I don't know, this poo poo is so insanely stacked against the recon corps I have no idea what they're gonna do haha

Bert can't really do anything though. He's pretty useless apart from just falling on people or knocking things over if he's braced enough to stand up.

I think the "Hange controlling the armored titan" theory could be right considering she knows the most about titan biology. Maybe she slipped into that big gaping hole and is flailing Reiner's vegetable body around like a puppet?

There were a lot of cool details throughout the chapter. Armin's nightmare of the colossal titan and the time lapse of Eren's house both stood out as excellent. And as much as I hated the way the manga handled Armin's "death," the fact that he and the other survivors were just as freaked out about it earned more good will from me than I expected.

Complaints the key not opening the lock seem silly given that immediately afterwards we're shown the lock that the key does open.

The basement reveal, which seems to have caught the most flack from people, doesn't bother me at all. We already knew that some people did live outside the walls, and we already knew that the monarchy had been hiding the truth from the people within the wall. So, really, it wasn't anything we as readers didn't already know or couldn't figure out.

We still don't actually know what life is like outside the walls, beyond the people having invented the daguerreotype and Grisha's note that it's "harmonious." It's clearly not a modern society, so comparisons with Shyamalan's The Village seem premature.

Another important part of the chapter, and something I personally appreciate, is that It also doesn't end with them still in the basement. They've actually returned to the inner wall having succeeded in reclaiming the wall.

The story actually is progressing.

Judging by their clothing, I'd say the whole series is an alternate universe riff on the civil war where one side (probably the south) discovered titan technology.

They escape in the next 5 chapters and the rest of the manga follows the survey corps as they adjust to life in modern day Japan. Perhaps just in time for them to register at high school???

This chapter: it's interesting that Krueger namedrops Armin and Mikasa when injecting Grisha because Grisha does the same when injecting Eren. Makes me think that a titan shifter's memory is actually a gestalt consciousness that can perceive past, present, and future simultaneously, and that the end of this chapter shows the future bleeding into the past. Perhaps that's also how we get "to you, 2000 years from now".

The same guy was seen watching them, alone, in the previous issue. He could've cut his leg off and it would have scabbed over already, since it takes a while for the wound to actually heal all the way.

However all Titans end up getting a little of the human that goes into them in their appearance, hence why you can map titan faces to human faces.

Also probably taking different Titan juices gives you the different Titan powers, again with certain Bloodlines being better for different juices. Eren could probably get all the juices and have the most messed up titan ever because it'd have variously useful versions of every Titan power, which would admittedly have been a hilarious storyline. Eren vs the Titan Masters for their Titan Powers

I still think this is where the story is going, as Eren eventually collects all the other titan powers and puts the progenitor one back together again.

There's nothing to really suggest it doesn't take place on Earth though. There's baseball, coffee, and no weird or alien animals at all except for titans (and they were created).

Calling my shot for the next chapter or two:

Eren's conversation with Reiner gets interrupted by Warhammer's announcement, which is to kill/transform all of the Eldians and ship them off. Eren transforms to fight him but gets his rear end kicked, and Reiner either jumps in to help or lets Eren eat him for a powerup since he's almost at the end of his lifespan anyways.
