Sounds like a cool plan. Buy the leftover stock (that's been well picked over) from a closed down record store then use the lucky dip method to sell it. It's the #vibe!

Remember that dumb VNYL thing from a little while back? A subscription service where you paid $24 for a few dollar bin records? They apparently used the money from their Kickstarter to open a record store. Here is some video footage someone took. It's easily the most embarrassing record store I have ever seen.

Had a nice pickup at my local today. Cadallaca were a short lived band featuring Corin Tucker who released this single LP in 1998. It was a nice surprise to come across a copy.

New Deafheaven album is up for pre-order. US versions here and EU versions here

I ordered the pink EU version as it looks the nicest, and shipping is way cheaper to Australia from the EU than US.

Merge are reissuing The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs. First 1,000 on colour vinyl. This is one of my favourite albums so I had to take the plunge, even though it's pricey.

Any Australians in here? Where do you guys buy your records online?

I miss when in 2011-13 the AUD/USD was not 0.7 and you could buy whatever you wanted from the US but now it's all buggered and buying anything internationally is terrible, particularly with the international shipping rates record retailers charge.

Check out this ebay seller: http://stores.ebay.com.au/importcdsau15/

They have a huge range, prices are often cheaper than in store, and the shipping is free.

Those golden days when the dollar was at parity and before the USPS massively increased international shipping were awesome.

What I like about ELO, apart from being a great band, is that their records are abundantly available in any used record shop, usually quite cheap. That looks like a nice copy of Out of the Blue though

so, i'm curious: what's the least convenient record y'all have ever bought? i just got the Snails' Worth the Wait EP, which is very good and has some beautiful art, but is also 5 very short songs split across two 7"s

it got me wondering if any band has ever just released a long album across a ton of 7"s or something equally annoying

Perfect Teeth by Unrest is a great record that is split across 6 7"s.

Rancid released this ridiculous thing: https://www.discogs.com/Rancid-The-Essentials-20th-Anniversary-Edition/release/4364742

It's their discography across 46 7"s.

My store got a ton of stuff in, but not that Mew album

I also missed out on the John Grant - Queen of Denmark as they only got one copy (but something like a dozen copies of a Florence and the Machine 12" lmao)

I ended up buying Superchunk - Tossing Seeds, Metz/Mission of Burma split, that Run the Jewels VR viewer, and the new Drones album, though not an RSD item, it just kicks arse

I just looked over the Record Store Day list again for tomorrow and good lord that really is the worst selection I've seen for a RSD yet. It says a lot when the only things that remotely interest you are a single of Toto's Africa that is in the shape of Africa, and some 1970s Japanese erotic jazz porn thing.

I'll still go because I haven't done any crate digging in a while but... yeesh.

(although if you still need Arthur Verocai's self-titled album in your collection, jump on that poo poo if you see it. Just trust me on this)

From the discogs page: Play order: LP1, Side One / LP1, Side Two / LP2, Side Three / LP3, Side Four / LP2, Side Five / LP3, Side Six
