Murder by Death shipped me their new album with some amazing packaging.

Cut outs in the sleeve and it came with a chinese lantern and zoetrope!

Not entirely sure if this goes here, I got an Audio Technica LP60 for my birthday and I have it running through my computer speakers. Its decent sounding right now but I'm wondering what the next step would be to improve the overall sound, a "cheap" set of dedicated speakers or a "cheap" preamp?

The lads (and some of us) will help you out here

For actual content, a decent vintage amp is your best bet. They can be had for a song at thrift stores, garage sales, CL, but post them in that thread and we will tell you to pass, or if it's a rip off.

Awesome thank you

I think it's only being released on that day in limited colors but probably gonna have a wider release from there on out. They'd be stupid to just make it an RSD 2012 exclusive.

The album, originally released in 2000, will be released on colored vinyl for Record Store Day 2013, with the standard release coming the following Tuesday.

Looks to be the case. Color me excited for this.

What does that say about Relationship of Command? Also, this is the only ATDI album I've not heard. Should I listen to it?

Its an alright listen, gives you a sense of where they came from and how different their sound evolved in the later albums.

I really hope Relationship of Command's regular release has the bonus tracks on it for y'alls sake.

I really wouldn't even care for the bonus tracks (except maybe Catacombs because that song is so good. Extracurricular is on the This Station is Operation anthology they released.) I just want to get that album on vinyl because it is one of my all time favorite albums

The artwork for the Oblivion soundtrack looked really nice, but yeah Mondo poo poo just looks so goddamn samey. They really ought to branch out with some more artists instead of sticking with the same ones over and over again.

Really glad I decided to grab Relationship of Command before it sold out. I almost never get to things like that in time. :D

I had it in my cart and was looking at what else they had. Went to checkout and it said it was removed because it was sold out :(

Such a good album. I bought the vinyl version of this back in the day without even owning a turntable just because this album is that good

I finally picked up some of these sleeves. Most of the reviews mentioned they fit double albums however when I was sleeving up some of my gatefolds the sleeves had a very snug fit. Should I be concerned that the fit could damage the record in the long run?

Seriously, the Audio Technica LP120 (a major step up from the 60) goes for $200-250 online. If you're really not interested in looking for a vintage table (which you should consider if you're that tightly budgeted, btw. $200 can get you a good "forever" table and a bunch of LPs to play on it), then I'd save up an extra $50 and just go for that.

The LP120 is pretty much the only table most vinyl hobbyists will ever need (it's basically a Technics 1200 clone with some cost-cutting, but nothing that would be missed by anyone other than the biggest, spergiest alpha-audiophiles) and it comes with a fantastic cartridge if you get one with an AT95E. You can keep it for the rest of your vinyl hobby days if you want, or easily resell it for (probably) most of its original value if you decide that vinyl's just not your thing or want to upgrade down the road.

Also- while it's always incredibly important and valuable to set smart budgets and stick to them, you may want to reassess your interest in this hobby if tens of dollars give you issue (i.e. the difference between $200 and $250). A new album will regularly cost anywhere between $15 and $50 and many old ones will have similar variations in price. You can definitely have fun with vinyl on a shoestring budget, but you don't want to be like so many undergrads I know that get a shiny new turntable for Christmas and then spend the next two years listening to the same 10 albums before giving it up altogether. Like with games consoles, there's going to be an ongoing cost that you should bear in mind before jumping in. The cost of the turntable is just gonna be the tip of the iceberg.

Would you still recommend the LP120 to someone who already has an LP-60? I got the LP-60 for a great price (~$70) a couple months ago and really like using it. I've been thinking about upgrading different parts of my setup so I can eventually get a better TT. Should I seriously consider the LP-120 with the same regard as the ~3-400 tier TTs (like Project Debut etc)
