This just dropped... The cassette edition sold out in five minutes, I imagine the vinyl won't last long either.

Yeah bought too. Nice that shipping was no worse for the US than the UK, or I would've picked it up next time I went home. How much were the tapes out of curiosity?

Tapes were £9 a pop.

I just don't see any practical reason to gently caress around with cassettes when you could spit out a few dozen CD-Rs in a fraction of the time or just post the poo poo on a bandcamp page or something. I've heard tapes. I used them heavily for the first half of my life. They suck. The only reason I could imagine people putting out tapes is because it's a nostalgia thing. LPs have the benefit of superior sound quality (assuming you have a decent stereo and the disc itself was mastered well). Tapes are just a pain in the rear end.

See that's the thing. I hate tape hiss. I can deal with it if I'm listening to bootleg of something super rare, but if it can be avoided than it should be.

Cassettes are a way cooler physical artifact than CDs. Choice of materials for the case and shell gives some more area for experimentation, and you can fold a ton of info or art into a j-card.There's a reason modern releases on tape come with downloads though. I have to assume the number of people actually regularly playing contemporary cassette releases is vanishingly small.

CD feels passé, and despite being a technically great way of holding music it doesn't have much personality. If I'm gonna go digital, I just want MP3/AAC. Tapes are easily dubbed at home, they're cheap and they fit the lo-fi sound and aesthetic that a lot of acts wants.

Extremely on point. Vinyl is still king as far as having personality and also being a decent format to actually listen from, but cassette has a lot of of the personality at a much lower price point, and you can just provide a digital copy of the actual music alongside it to compensate for the quality/pain-in-the-rear end-factor issues.

The postage fees were pretty silly but I got the new El Huervo album and the Turf single. The slipmat is pretty cool.

Nice! Thanks for the tip, just ordered a copy for myself. Sad the Daisuke single is all sold out :(

Another track from Drift Stage's soundtrack was released on a shaped picture disk. It's gimmicky as hell but fun anyway. The first one sold out pretty fast and has appreciated considerably since.

New M.O.O.N. album in pre-order. If this is even a little bit your thing it's probably worth picking up. The two EPs he's put out are both quite good and appreciated nicely.

Speaking of albums that didn't get a reissue but probably should have given how much the original press goes for now... Someone did an unofficial run of the Spinnerette LP on blue vinyl. Fantastic album, especially for the $20 you can get the repress at: https://www.discogs.com/Spinnerette-Spinnerette/release/9216426

New release from Scattle.

https://scattle.bandcamp.com/album/sketch

Also Daylight Curfew restocked all three RTJ albums and some other stuff.

https://www.daylightcurfew.com/collections/vinyl

Also a repress of M|O|O|N EP and from the latest Facebook post it sounds like it'll be the last one, as the project is done:

quote:

Hello, couple of small things-
1) 'Clinically Blasé' will be my last release as M.O.O.N.. There are still some copies of the LP available on bandcamp.
2) Wrong Island Communications has some copies of the MOON EP 12" repress on their bandcamp. Last copies (for real this time). Proceeds being donated to a couple places, follow them for more info.
3) I recently DJ'd in Split, Croatia. The set was filmed, and will be posted soon. I'll make sure I'll link it here. It will stand as the last show I do under this name.
4) I'm largely going to stop using this page other than the odd announcement that may come up. If you'd like to keep up with any future projects I may do, please follow me on Twitter (@moon_music_) or Instagram (@boystephen). My music will not be removed from Spotify, iTunes, etc.
Thanks for listening.

Was walking to work the other day and noticed a small box of vinyl a few houses down from mine. Starting flipping through them and looked like a bunch of decent jazz. There was another guy emptying out the house and said all the trash bags were full of more records. He said his pops passed on and he couldn't find a buyer for any of them. Ended up giving him $20 and hauling a bunch of trash bags up to my apartment. Not the biggest jazz expert but a few things I found flipping through the first 50 or so.

I'm guessing around 3-400 total?

Nice haul.

Still no sign of my FLORAL SHOPPE record that was supposed to ship back in September and then again by the end of January or whatever. Not sure if it's worth it to try and get OESB dude to be held accountable over $25.

I got a shipment notification today for a copy I ordered on February 27th. I've heard they're being rather neglectful with older orders but seem snappy with more recent ones.

Ha Jesus that’s super weak. So I guess the mindset is ‘wed rather have less angry people who are super pissed, than more angry people who don’t mind that much’.

Yeah I wouldn't be at all surprised if they consider the early orders a lost cause and they're just trying to keep things smooth with those going forward :(
