Yeah, but it's hard to explain why some people like some things and others don't. I liked the Eagles up to Hotel California. As mentioned above, people of a certain age are very likely to have the Eagles 1971-75 hits album along with Frampton Comes Alive and Dark Side of the Moon (yes, I have all three).

I have one of those and I seem to remember it costing roughly half the price of a regular single. Of course, that was about 30 years ago.

the color makes it spin flat actually. all clear records have to have an extra heavy label to keep them flat. fun fact.

Turntables with automatic size censors do not like clear albums. I realized this when I first tried to play David Bowie's Sound + Vision. I thought the turntable was hosed up.

Make the album like a picture disc, but instead of a picture, put a smaller album inside it.

Since I'm a sucker for this album AND colored vinyl (or lack thereof, in this case), I bought this:

Electric Light Orchestra's Out of the Blue on 180gr clear vinyl. It includes the original band poster, but not the cardboard spaceship model (which was lame anyway) or the merchandise insert.

It is weird not seeing it on the Jet Records label (it's on Epic).

If you want to know the history of Beatles records, check out Bruce Spizer's series of books. They are filled to the brim with information. That being said, they aren't cheap. Our of print copies can be pricey. They were all about $50 when new.

e: looks like some of them are available as e-books.

I got this for $5:

Interesting story behind this one: Neil Bogart, head of Casablanca Records, gambled on this and had over a million copies pressed. It failed miserably and put the label over $2M in debt. According to the story "it shipped gold and went back to the label platinum". Luckily for Bogart, they signed Donna Summer in the following year (1975) and KISS' Alive was a huge success.

It's basically the audio equivalent of "How It's Made". You can listen to early takes and get an idea of how the final song is constructed.

Well, that sucked. I really wanted the Blade Runner soundtrack, but the store didn't even get any copies. And they were sold out of the Africa disc.
