"Send in Boxbot!"

Um. Well.

I originally saw that cutscene on Youtube, and assumed that it must be the culmination of a long-running plot thread, what with all the lines that make no sense out of context, but nope! Just sorta...comes out of nowhere. I mean, a bunch of people turning into monsters and Seifer having to put them down - was that ever mentioned before, or even so much as hinted at?

[he says, running away]
There was that scene in the cave back when the party was looking to get into Myorzo -- here. Vague foreshadowing and still not really addressing the Patty=Aifread thing, but Seifer's fate was definitely a thing.

It's still completely divorced from the rest of the main plot, which is my main issue with it.

*clang*

My main issue with it is the preteen girl who is the badassingest pirate in history. Also am I making it up or do I remember someone mentioning Aifread was involved in the Great War 10 years ago? Was she even born then?

Patty you're a annoying, lovely, rehashed, shoehorned disgrace of a character and I'm almost glad you weren't in our version. They clearly had the idea of her in the 360 version, so why is she so clearly not intended to be in the game?

She detracts from a solid cast by being completely pointless and having nothing humorous or insightful to add to any situation she's in. I genuinely feel her presence makes the game worse.

I'd spoiled myself on Patty's storyline long before we got here. Before she even showed up.

I was expecting a little girl that talks and acts like she's 60-70. Someone who is clearly older than they look and has been through a ton of crap over the years, acting as sort of a team mom to the rest of the cast despite being physically younger than them. Basically being written as if she was a buff old lady with an eyepatch, one arm, and cigar except with the character model of a 6 year old. This belief was only reinforced by the fantastic characterization of Yuri and just about everyone else.

And then she actually showed up.

All I have to say on the matter now is:

See, I could have tolerated the "Aifread is Patty" 'twist' if they had made Patty more like this. I could have tolerated Patty herself more if she was like this. Instead, generic anime tropes.

Last time, we were about to inspect the source of the rumbling.

Watch the cutscene!

Wait! That's where Aspio is!
What's going on?!

What the hell is that thing?
...Tarqaron.
Huh?
The spirits are telling me that's the Tower of Tarqaron.
...Duke. It's got to be him.
He's going to try to use that against the Adephagos.

What do you want?
Some people with the knights wanted me to tell them if I saw someone with your appearance. They said they wanted to talk to you about Flynn, the new Commandant of the Imperial Knights.
What?!
I believe you are the right person?
Yeah.

Huh? Oh...yes, I suppose so.

So can I wait at the Inn?
Yes. That's fine. I'll call them.

Watch the cutscene!

Yuri... Lowell...
...Sodia?
So what's up with Flynn?
Oh! Right. Many people have fled this continent since that monster covered the sky. But some opposed using a guild fleet to protect the empire. Flynn could not abide that. A fleet attacked by monsters landed on Hypionia. We fought, but they kept gaining.
We alone were sent for aid... But all the knights are spread all over the world...
We have no other choice but to ask for your help.

What did you say?!

I...I did it all for Commander Flynn!

Humph. You talk about doing it all for Flynn. But you're just whining.
You gave up. You forgot your resolve.
Resolve...

Y-yeah...
All right. I'll be back soon. All of you get ready to go to Tarqaron--

Yeah, me too. You keep forgetting us.

I don't think Ba'ul will listen to you, either.
All for the guild and the guild for all... Right?

Woof!

All right, Sodia. Let's reform the support units!
O-okay...

Watch the cutscene!

I... I tried to kill you...
Oh, I'm not letting it go.

I haven't given up...
No? So why haven't you gone to help Flynn, even alone?

Please...

Please...

?
I'm a criminal. I could be killed any time. Flynn is the perfect knight. A perfect leader. He doesn't need a criminal by his side.
...
I'm just standing in until the right person comes along.
Yuri...

I love this whole exchange between Yuri and Sodia.

Skit: Flynn in Danger
Flynn always seems to put himself in danger.
He's always that way. He doesn't mind getting hurt if it means protecting others.
Yeah, he gets a little crazy sometimes.
Like you're any different. Birds of a feather, right?
Oh, I'd say we're all like that.
Like what?
We all stuck with Brave Vesperia. Even when the goin' got rough.
Hah hah. I guess none of us can just let things go.
Right. So we can't just let Flynn go either.
Yeah. Exactly.
Well since we can't let it go, I think it's time we get a little crazy.

Now, we just got a major plot point! Tarqaron appeared! That means a whole lot of sidequests unlocked, right? Well, yes, they did.

But gently caress that, the upcoming sequence is awesome, we're doing it right now!

That's some cloud of dust. Are those all monsters!?
This seems to be a counter effect of Astal's losing control. It's as if the monsters of the world all came and gathered here.
Is Flynn really down there somewhere?
Probably.
What next? Are we gonna fight every single one of 'em?

Ya gonna blow them away like doing it to the Adephagos?
Right... Applying directivity to the power of spirits and forming a barrier-like force field to eliminate the monsters...

But this was made to be used against the Adephagos, right?
But this is our only option now.
Could you let us use it? Please?
I beg you too. The Dein Nomos... I want to believe it can save mankind...

Alright. Let's do it.
It's rare to hear Yuri ask for a favor like that.
It's our chance to do Yuri a favor!

So what's our plan?
Activate it in the area where the monsters are all concentrated. That's it. Simple, right?
Yeah it is.
No kidding...
Why don't we give it a name? We can't just call it the Rita Dein Nomos...
Huh? ...I'll leave it up to you.

I should have known better...
It's got a nice ring to it. Besides, it's nice n' simple.

Even Ba'ul will need to keep some distance. I'll land at a place.
Okay, let's do it.

What a mess...
We're going in...
Look! Over there!

Flynn!
Hey, looks like he could use some help.
We won't be surrounded if we move along the side of the cliff.

The 360 version just cuts from this straight into the next cutscene.

The PS3 version, for whatever reason, added this. I don't know why.

You really just run towards the top of the screen for half a minute, occasionally avoiding an enemy. It's pretty dumb and pointless, if you ask me.

Oh well.

Watch the cutscene!

This is the end...
You idiots! Stop your whining!

Yuri! What are you doing here?!
Thank your second-in-command for thinking of you.
Sodia?! Huh...

We have a little special something.
What?

Then, watch it go boom!

Come on, it's us! This is nothing.
Woof!

Keep things going here!
Just you two?! Are you stupid?
We cannot let our guard down here. If we can't defend this place, we lose the very reason for taking out the monsters.
This isn't to defeat the monsters. This is to protect the people.
That's right.
Understood. Leave it to us!
Take care, you two.

Right!
Woof!

Whoa, what? We have Flynn in our party? And yes, this is still the 360 version.

It's pretty neat, except, if you just look a little close -- like, say, change Flynn to manual and control him yourself -- it becomes obvious why he's not actually a party member in this version. He's unfinished. He only has six artes, a pretty bad three-hit combo... and that's it. He can go into overlimit, but has neither Bursts nor a Mystic, and he can't Fatal Strike either. Still, it's cool for the novelty alone.

Listen to the full conversation! (yes do this if you're not watching the video)

Hey, don't go getting yourself ripped apart.
You'll get yourself killed if you keep watching me fight!

Haha, come on! I'm just in awe of the great Flynn Scifo!
Sh-shut up!

Hey, this isn't the time to get worked up.
I am NOT worked up!

It's okay, don't hide it.
Would you be serious for once?
I am serious!

I can't concentrate with you talking all the time!
Well, I can't concentrate without talking, so... we're kinda stuck!

Probably my favorite conversation in the entire game.

Apart from Flynn here, this is a pretty regular battle, except enemies keep spawning in. It's not timed, but simply an endurance run: After a certain amount of enemies they stop spawning and you win.

Watch the cutscene! (same video as before)

I'm still up for some more fighting!
Heh, you look like you're actually having fun in the middle of all this.
Heh heh. You do too.
Woof woof!

Watch the cutscene!

Knight: Th-thank you so much...

Don't push yourself, OK?

Don't mention it.
There are more serious injuries than I thought. Estelle has saved their lives, but they shouldn't move for a while.
I guess we have to stay and defend them for a little more.
So why not just make this a fort?

I guess the mercenaries I hired weren't sufficient. Sorry for the trouble.
I'm sure the guilds are in chaos right now, too. Thank you for your help.
It won't really make up for things, but I'll help with the defense.
You're going to fight?
Oh no. I'm a merchant. Just watch.

Witcher! ...Is something wrong?

Judging by the crests, it's absorbing some kind of power. In addition, all residents throughout Ilyccia have reported feeling strange.

...Duke.
Life is a very pure mana. Does he intend to use it to attack?
This is what he meant by exchanging all human life to destroy the Adephagos.
The formula is expanding in stages. At this rate, it could affect the entire world...
No...!
We can't just stand around.
But the spirits' power alone won't be enough.
What? But it took out all those monsters!

Several hundred...? That's gonna be tough...
...I guess we have no choice but to change the cores to spirits.
Wait. Could you explain what you're talking about?
Oh, yeah. We meant to talk to you all about it. Hey, Flynn. We want to tell Ioder and the guilds too. Can you call them here?

You never change.
What?

In exchange, you all go talk to the people of the Union and Palestralle.
Okay.

Yeah. Mind giving us a ride?

In the PS3 version, a small bit of dialogue is added regarding Rita's fancy weapon:

There's a ton of NPCs here, but apart from that, nothing really interesting.

Be sure to save at this save point though, it's missable and you'll hate yourself if you're going for the 'save at every save point' achievement and miss this one.

Anyway, let's leave.

Thank you... for um, saving... Flynn. ...

...Why?
Because I can understand why you tried to kill me back there. There's something you just want to protect, even if it means dirtying your own hands. You lose your senses in the heat of the moment and find yourself doing things you'd never imagine.
...

It would have been easier if you'd blame me for this.
Don't flatter yourself! Don't think I'm here doing this for your own good.

W-what...should I do...?
I have no intention of lecturing you about rights and wrongs.

...

As Flynn's friend, I'm grateful for the loyalty you've shown towards him.

Skit: Sodia and Yuri
Yuri's not too fond of young Sodia, is he?
I can see where he's coming from, though.
Everything about her feels hard as a rock. That's not exactly easy to like.
Aw, cut her some slack. Knights are all a little square.
She has a stubborn nature that quick-to-act folks like you and Yuri don't. And that's a good thing.
Stubborn is good...? You totally lost me there.
I figured I would. That's why we can't talk without gettin' on each other's nerves.

And that's mostly it for today! Check below for a deeper look at Flynn as a party member in the 360 version. Other than that, next time: Sidequesting!

I think there are a bunch of people who can create trailing images. I know some who could do this as if they were just going out for a stroll.
Hey there!

Flynn's Artes are nothing to write home about, but really get the point across that he's "the" standard Tales hero in this. Apart from First Aid, all of this is stuff that the main characters in early Tales games have.

Flynn's Equipment is locked, you can change or remove it. In addition to that, the sword and shield are exclusive to him: No way to get them, and he's the only one who can equip them even if you hack them into your inventory.

In what I assume is a weird coding quirk, the game drops his armor into your inventory when Flynn leaves the party after this battle. Too bad it doesn't do this to the Faerie Ring! (TP usage halved)

Another interesting thing is that not even AI Flynn can use Fatal Strikes. I think this is because internally, Fatal Strikes are just normal Artes with specific trigger conditions, and Flynn doesn't have those Artes.

Other than that, he's not too interesting, especially if you've seen him fight in the PS3 version. Here's a video of me fighting that battle as him, if you really want to watch it.

But wait, there's more! By editing your save file, you can pretty easily hack Flynn into your party.

There's really no point to doing this, as the same restrictions still apply: Can't change Equipment (which also means he can't get new Skills!), only six Artes, no Fatal/Burst/Mystic.

He doesn't even have a title or any Attachments, but he does have a character portrait! Which is the same one you see in the PS3 version, by the way.

Flynn has a couple skills, but only one is interesting: Hero. A skill that is completely wasted on him, as there's no humanoid enemies in the battle you can use him in, and yet Flynn is the only party member who can get that Skill. I don't even know if it actually works, coding-wise, but I assume it does. As it turns out I can't read, the skill affects damage against everything but humans. Which actually makes a lot more sense.

Flynn can cook just fine, like every other party member, and even gets stars when he cooks stuff multiple times. I think they even programmed food likes/dislikes for him.

And, yes, you can set him as your avatar for running around.

Unlike Repede, Flynn even has all the required animations for overworld actions such as opening doors or climing a ladder. (Sidenote: That's why you can't set Repede as your avatar in the 360 version, he lacks those animations.)

And finally, here's an unused skit I found buried in the game files! It refused to play properly (and instead liked to crash the game) on the PS3 version even after changing the audio and texture formats to proper ones and I lack a homebrewable 360, so here's a manual approximation of what it's supposed to look like.

Skit: Partners and Rivals
It's been a while since we've stood shoulder to shoulder with each other.
Yeah. Not since the last job I did as a knight.
Woof!
Don't tell me you've gotten rusty.
Heh. I should be asking you that. I'll leave you in the dust if you can't keep up.
So will I!
Woof, woof!

Additional bonus that's kinda unrelated to Flynn but whatever: Here's a few screenshots from the PS3 version of the scenes we just witnessed that might make good avatars or something.

On a side note, I like how Rita, the stereotypical genius-savant mage character, actually has storyline backing up her knowledge of magic. She's not just studying the artifacts you find as her character quirk (like how Judith is always going on walks, or Raven complains about being old); there's actual plot ramifications as she grows to understand the principles of the system and uses them to develop new techniques. Too often it seems like games conflate "good at magic" with "must be smart" and then stop there and don't consider what it means to have a genius in the party; it's nice to see a game that actually follows through.

I finally read this LP all the way through. Thanks for playing through this humongous game and including rarely-seen bonus content! I've been curious about Vesperia, but I'll probably never own a 360.

Considering the medium, Yuri is a great protagonist. It's really refreshing to see a JRPG protagonist reacting maturely to drama and earth-shattering events while being aware of the ramifications of his actions. There's countless whiny and oblivious teenager protagonists out there, so it's neat to see a game in the anime-drenched Tales series buck the trend. A minimal amount of corny friendship speeches and mandated plot idiocy in a JRPG? It's a miracle! :swoon:

Too bad that the game eventually gets snared in a lot of different tired clichés. I guess they couldn't hold off the anime forever. :v:

Raven the thirty-something-year-old cracks awful jokes about him being an "old man" every 5 minutes, deus ex machinas are pouring out of the walls, and the sheer amount of fantasy-themed technobabble in the later portions of the game is out of control. The addition of Patty is just the cherry on top of that poo poo sundae (though, thanks for going out of your way to show us the PS3 content). It's a real letdown after how well they handled the lead character.

To be fair, being in your mid-30s, but surrounded by teenagers would make you feel pretty loving old. I feel bad enough at 26 with some of the kids I work with.

I dunno about all of them, but yeah, he gets more, and yeah, you need to see them all. The battle is generally harder, I'm not sure if it's stats or just the tweaked attackset but it's a noticeably more difficult fight in the PS3 version.

I find it less stats or tweaked attacks and more that in the PS3 version, lategame bosses seem to have the ability to break out of your combo, which ruins about seven thousand infinite combo videos on Youtube that liked to use that fight and had it down to a science.

I can't wait for that update either. :v:

According to that vid, he really doesn't. Flynn is kind of crap at fighting.

Yeah, trying to use Flynn in the 360 version is just painful, but PS3 buffs him a ton and makes him more, well, Standard Tales Protagonist.

I think there are a bunch of people who can create trailing images. I know some who could do this as if they were just going out for a stroll.
No update yet, but in the meantime, here's some screenshots from the PS3 version of the Northeastern Hypionia cutscene that might make for some near avatar material or something.

Sidequesting time!

If you fly around near Zaphias, you can trigger this scene:

The capital?
Aren't there people left in the lower quarter you'd like to see?
There's not anyone I absolutely HAVE to go and see, but okay...

Sure I guess.

Yes... Ba'ul was the one who noticed, actually.
It was probably left behind by Alexei.
So, you want to go and destroy it, Judy?
...Decreasing the imbalance of aer on the planet just a little bit will make it all the easier to go up against the Adephagos, won't it?
...Yes, you're right.
...I'll go too.
Oh, why is that?
If we don't break it and instead take the core...
Umm, do we really have to destroy it? Couldn't we just deactivate them somehow?
That could work...in theory. But there's no guarantee that someone won't come along and try to get them working again. After all, it'll be just as inconvenient to have blastia that don't work as it will to have no blastia at all.

Oh, wait! Yuri, let's go too!
*Sigh*

All of you, wait here.
Huh? I mean, that's fine, but...
I'm going to go with you!
No, you wait here too.
If you and Judith go alone, you'll be captured in no time!
You should give Judy and Rita more credit than that, don't you think?
But it would be so much easier if they didn't have to worry about being stopped by guards! Judith, wait for us!

Yuri, where are you going?
Oh, just for a walk.

Like Yuri said, no matter how much people swear that they're not going to use blastia... ...The temptation is too great. Someone will inevitably show up who wants to use it again.
That's why we have to make absolutely sure that it will never be able to function again.
I see... I guess there's no other choice than to destroy it...
Ah, that's not true, actually.
Really?
If we take away the blastia's core, it won't be able to be used. So we can take the core out, and then use spirit conversion on it. Then we'll be in the clear!
But isn't that stealing...?
Yes, it is. That's why we wanted to do this ourselves...

Whawhawhaaa?!
To make it so they don't know we've taken the core, We should really tear up the warehouse and everything around it. They won't notice the core's missing in all the mess. What do you think?
Whawhawhaaa?!
Good idea. Maybe we can put some scratches on the blastia body as well... I guess this is the only way we can do it.
I have to say, I was quite pleased that you figured out my plan so quickly.
What are you saying? It was a cinch to see what you were thinking of doing. You were trying not to involve Estelle and everyone else, right? Though I guess there's not much point in that anymore...
I-I'm sorry...

You could get things done a lot easier if you would just tell Flynn and His Royal Highness...

Huh? Is someone there?

What's all this commotion?!

Yuri Lowell!
You are no doubt behind all of this! Yet again, I saaay!
Hmmm...maybe I am, indeed.
What? Yuri, you mean...
Urgggh! How insolent! You're under arrest!
Hey Karol, old man. Let's get outta here.

Yes, thanks to you.
Rita, what's in that bag?
Nothing at all!

What! What do you mean theft?
Wait, you knew...?
Ahh, I see. That's a blastia core, then!
How the heck did I become a thief without even realizing it?
I'm sorry, Karol...
Hah hah! Let's get out of here before Leblanc comes back!

That is, uh, thank you. For not destroying that blastia.
Oh. A surprising bit of humility, coming from you.
But why did you do it? You didn't have any trouble destroying blastia before now.
I just wanted you to like me!
N-no way! You're joking, right?!
Yes.
You...
When I was by myself, the only way I could stop them was by destroying them. But now I know that there are different ways of taking care of the the blastia, when I'm with friends. I can count on you, right?
S-sure.

Not like this is gonna matter once we convert all the blastia cores.

Anyway! The recent appearance of Tarqaron on the world map triggered a couple other changes too: Two mountain ranges we couldn't land on before (one near the Quoi Woods, the other near Mt. Temza) are now flat and have a couple unique enemies. Those aren't terribly interesting though; what's much more interesting is the island in the top left of the world map.

Previously, this area was submerged in water, but now we can enter it!

What is this place...?
It's sure gotta weird feelin' to it.

This is your first time here, am I right? First of all, you'll need to buy tickets.
Tickets? We need tickets to go in?

That's all? You've gotta be joking.
Not at all! We're not doing this to make a profit. For us, it's all about helping others have fun.
What's going on here, anyway?
It's not easy to summarize, but basically, it's like a big, fun party! I think the best way to understand what I mean would be to just go in and have a look for yourself.
What should we do?
Thank you very much. Here are your tickets.

You can go and come as you please, so just have a good time and don't worry about anything! You'll need to use chips for everything while you're here. Make sure to go and exchange your Gald for chips in the Gymnasium.

Nam Cobanda (obviously a reference to Namco and Bandai) previously appeared in Tales of the Abyss as well, although with a completely different design, and is more or less a love letter to all things Namco. You can run around and spot several things from other Namco games.

Also, as far as I remember, Abyss was released before the Namco-Bandai merger in Japan, so the place is only called Namcot Isle in Japanese.

I definitely don't recognize everything here, but I'll try to mention what I recognize.

Rappigs are from Tales of the Abyss, small pig-like creatures.

Katz are from pretty much every Tales game since... I wanna say Eternia? Maybe Destiny too. They're pretty much people dressed in cat costumes, for whatever reason.
Harold is a main character in Tales of Destiny 2.
Mieu is Luke's little Cheagle from Tales of the Abyss. Most people dislike him, although I don't, as you might be able to tell from my Youtube avatar.

Maybe I should rip the textures from this place so it's easier to tell if there's more Namco stuff around here.

This is a Taiko Drum, from the Taiko no Tatsujin series. The US got exactly one game from that series, named Taiko: Drum Master, for the PS2. Europe never got a game from the series. Japan has a ton of them.

And here's another Abyss reference.

The first time I played Vesperia I was really confused about this place, since there didn't seem to be anything to do apart from looking at Namco stuff, and the Gymnasium was blocked off by some random old man. Turns out there's a second entrance I totally overlooked.

Are you here on some business with Fortune's Market?
Unfortunately, not quite. I just learned of this island, so I decided to come and have a look around.
So have ya figured out what sorta place this is yet?
It's a kind of...playground. A paradise where people can come to forget the troubles of their day-to-day lives and just have fun.
It doesn't look that way to me--
See for yourself. I think you'll see what I mean. You can exchange your Gald for chips here. You might as well do it sooner rather than later.
Yes, we'll do that.
Well, have a good time. I'll talk to you later.
So then, you want to try exchanging our Gald for chips?
Yeah, good idea.

Yes.
In order to enjoy yourself here, you'll need chips. You won't be able to use Gald. You can exchange either Gald or Grades for chips. Since it's your first time, here's a little something on the house, to get you started.

If you're clever and/or lucky, those five free chips are all you ever need. You'll see why.

Play lots of games to save up enough chips to exchange them for marvelous prizes! Just talk to the Ant Lion Man next to me for exchanges. Enjoy yourself!

The prize exchange has a couple great items, most of which can only be bought here.

You can also abuse it fairly easily to get a bunch of money. I'll get to that later. As you can see, they nerfed the poo poo out if this in the PS3 version. It's a shame, too, as combined with another change it just makes it tedious as hell to a) get everything here and b) get money for sidequests that require money. I dunno why they felt the need to change it. Oh well.

Welcome to the Capsule Corner! Ready to get your capsule on?
What do you mean? What's a capsule?
You put in a chip or two, and the machine turns round and round, and what pops out is a capsule, full of love and dreams!
What's inside these capsules, exactly?
Big dreams, little dreams...all sorts of dreams, really!
So in other words, it could be just about anything?
Sounds like a pretty big gamble ta me.
Dreams are always a gamble, my friends! From right to left, the machines require 1 chip, 10 chips, 100 chips, and 500 chips! The more chips required, the better the dreams! Go to the machine you like, and get your capsule on!
Gotta love the capsules ♪ Round and round and round...
Heh, gotta love the capsules indeed...

These capsule machines just give you random assortments of items, mostly usable items, ingredients, and synth materials. It's usually not worth it to blow chips here since it's much less random to either buy them or get them from world map search points or monsters.

Wow... Everything here is something I've never seen before.
These aren't blastia, are they?
Correct. No blastia at all. We made everything here by hand. How about that? Pretty nice, huh?
Ya mean ya little tykes made all this by hand?
Of course! We worked our butts off, hey!
Wow, that's great. But what is this?
Seeing is believing, my friends! And you won't see it until you play it!
Play it? We don't even know how.
No worries, no worries! You'll pick it up quickly. Allow me to pick one of you to give it a test-run! Hmmmm... All right, let's go with Ms. Bouncy-bouncy Krityan.
Me? I don't think I'd be very good at this...
Don't worry about it! That just means it'll be more fun for you! All right, right this way, then. Okay, just stand there for a sec... And now... Cha-ching!

Watch the game!

That was...Ba'ul, wasn't it?
What you were imagining in your mind showed up on that very screen! I feel like that adds a bit of a game-like quality to it, don't you?
I don't get it at all.
Ya mean...if someone else's doin' the thinkin', something else'll show up on the screen?
Sorry, that's all for now! That was the last game machine that wasn't in use.
Aww, what a buzzkill!
Hey, no big deal, right? We can come back here some other time and play, right?
Yes, come whenever you'd like. You'll have your very own game machine, just for Ms. Bouncy-bouncy and her friends. Oh, but the next time you play, don't forget that you'll need chips, too!

This is just a silly little minigame, not much more to it.

Skit: From Mind to Game
...What sort of technology is this...?
I can't understand how it takes the image of Ba'ul from our heads and turns it into a game...
Well, well. So there are things not even our genius mage understands!

So what? If it's fun, it's fun!
Maybe that works for happy-go-lucky Raven, but I need to understand what's around me.
I think there's some truth in what Raven's saying.
Even if you can't unravel certain mysteries, it doesn't change the fact that what's fun is fun.
Ya see! Ya see?! Judith darlin', unlike *someone* here, you sure know what's important. You and me, we're on the same wavelength!
...I wonder what would come up on the screen if it showed what the old man was thinking?
*Whine...*
I don't even want to imagine it. In fact, I'm sure we couldn't imagine it if we tried...

Hm, what's this back there?

Hey, haven't seen him in a while. He gives us the Vichyssoise recipe:

To the very left, we can find this:

Excuse me, is something the matter?

Hey, why are you looking at us like that? You creep, learn some manners!
O-oh, pardon me, I apologize. I'm a member of the actors' guild, Showtime.
We never asked who ya were...
Ever since that strange monster appeared in the sky, the other members have stopped coming to perform... Please! Take their place on stage! All of you are just the right height... I think their costumes would fit perfectly on you.
Oo, this sounds like fun!
At this rate, we'll lose all our credibility and our guild will be through! Please! Help us! I beg you!
How could anyone turn down someone in such obvious distress? But...I wonder if we can really pull it off..

The show will be starting soon, so please go and change, and learn your lines as fast as you can! Men are this way! Women are that way!

So these are the costumes... Wow, Rita, yours is so cute!
Ugh! Do I really have to wear this piece of trash? No way! I'm not doing it! Ngah, you can't make me wear that!!

At least you're better off than I am. They even seem to fit your personality a bit...

Well, since it seems I blew the auditions on this one, I might as well go an' find me a seat in the audience.
Woof!

(thinking) Oo, looks like she means business!

Today you will meet your maker! Prepare yourself, heroine Estelle! Karol, my minion! Get her!

Take this! Yaa!

Now it's my turn!

Audience: Oo, the action scenes are great this time around!
And now for the fatal blow!

Time to spice things up a bit.

Audience: Wow! The choreography is excellent! That minion's acting was great, too.
He wasn't actin'...

You need to learn some humility, human!

(whispering) Yuri, let me beat you like it says in the script!
(whispering) Nah, this way is more exciting. Let's keep fighting a bit.
(whispering) Oh, okay. Maybe that's even better.

Audience: Wow! This is great! Amazing!

Audience: Oh no, the princess suffered a direct hit!

...Why'd you have to hit me too...?

The end.

This scene really should have been voiced! It's not voiced in the PS3 version either, for the record.

If you ever get another chance, feel free to come and act in another one of our shows!
You've gotta be kidding me.
Come on, dontcha think it was a nice change o' pace?
Yes, it was very fun.
I had a great time.
I think I've had enough acting for a long time...

We'll work hard to have even better performances!

Brave Vesperia isn't an acting guild...

And yep, we get all those costumes. Except for Karol's we'll be wearing those for a while.

We also get the prop sword and shield Estelle used:

They aren't very good stat-wise and offer no skils, but hey, still neat.

Next time: More stuff in Nam Cobanda!
