Yeah, it's not. They put lipstick on a pig, it's still Wild Bill's. The ease of entry is terrible on weekends, the crowd that hangs around is AWFUL and if you're a morning person you have to contend with them coming out of after hours. It's tiny, there's 1 restaurant that I know of and I was very underwhelmed by Giada's.

It probably deserves a spot higher on the list but, like I can't think of any real reason to move it up other than location. I dunno, I guess you could probably put it above Luxor?

Pretty much. I tried gambling there last time I was in town and it was pretty bad. The rules were good but the crowd was terrible and the casino was super cramped and full of creepers.

And that line for Drai's...man.

I think that's about how I'd rate them and they're broken down by tier. Some of them are probably movable within their tier but they're about the same. I didn't include hotels without a casino or ones that are attached like Vdara, or Four Seasons.

How well does that correlate to price? Some of it is obvious, but, like, do you find some to be of particularly good value?

Thanks for the hotel chat everyone.

It was be at the Trump and walk to the Venetian or stay at the off brand managed Signature condos and take the monorail up. I figure eating and drinking will be done elsewhere, just need a decent room, so I will see how it goes. I’ve had a few people tell me that they were surprised how decently nice it was.

I am sadly out of date these days. I thought the Mandrin Oriental was still around but maybe it’s something else.

It's fairly spot on as far as price to quality is concerned but there isn't really a big gap in room pricing for basic rooms. Park MGM might be the best value on my list as they're starving for business. The casino itself is kinda meh but they have a couple great restaurants and the location is unbeatable.

I'll throw out there again that I think The Linq is the best deal and most underrated of the budget options. It's been recently redone; the rooms aren't overly elegant, but they're nice and clean. The location is great, and it's one of the easiest casinos to get into and out of. The casino itself is lacking, but you're right in the heart of a bunch of other good spots.

Need two recommendations - happy to give details as necessary, but for a group bachelor party - 14 people, 30-35 year old schlubby lawyer types - so have money, but aren't going to be crushing the Encore Beach Club or something like that:

First is for a big group bachelor party dinner, private room , type of cuisine is open - steakhouse (non-cut variety) is fine

Second is same big group - but something more affordable for arrival day.

A few years ago I was at a Vegas bachelor party with close to the same amount of people. I was pretty drunk the entire time so my memory is a little fuzzy, but I remember going to a very nice steakhouse in Circus Circus. It was a little pricey but not any more than any other upscale steakhouse, and it was absolutely worth it. We had a private room and it was awesome. I can't recall the name of the place though.

1. Carbone, Bavette's, Scarpetta, Mott 32, Catch, Scotch 80, Craft Steak, Mastro's, Costa Di Mare, Javier's, El Dorado Cantina, Lotus Of Siam. Probably roughly in that order.

2. Ummmmmm Bardot Brunch

There are way better options than JG IMO.

Bardot is very good for dinner. At MGM Grand I'd consider Craftsteak, maybe Hakkasan and that's about it for dining. (Joel Robuchon and L'Atelier are AMAZING but not built for your group)

I had a good time during a quick 3-night stay with my buddies. As a cheap Midwesterner, I loved Ellis Island. $5 games, $2.50 beer, $6.99 steak and eggs. I sadly didn't get to try the BBQ restaurant. The attached hotel was fine. It's not fancy and the common areas are kinda old and dingy, but the rooms were recently remodeled and very clean. You get a bunch of little casino bonuses for staying. The biggest annoyance was the line to check-in. Everyone in front of me in line had apparently never checked into a hotel before.

I want to plug The Void, a virtual/augmented reality game at the Grand Canal Shops at the Venetian. My group of four went twice so we could try out both the Star Wars and Avengers games they offered. If you can only do one, pick the Avengers.

We all liked the 2-6 spread-limit poker game at the Excalibur (cheap Midwesterners remember). It's a fun, casual game, and they have a clean, open, well-lit poker room with good drink service. We played on Sunday morning and they had some great high-hand bonuses paid every hour and were drawing a random seat to receive $50 or $100 every time someone in the selected NFL game scored. I didn't catch any cards and still managed to lose money, but that's poker baby!

Oh, and if you have hotel status or are willing to sign up for a credit card to get it, match it to Wyndham Rewards, and then match that to Caesar's Diamond. Free parking, waived resort fees, cut a bunch of lines, 2 free show tickets a month, access to Diamond Lounges, and an annual "Jubilee Dinner" worth $100. I figured this all out too late and stayed at Ellis Island, but it still got me 2 tickets to Penn & Teller and let me cut the huge line at the Bally's sportsbook on Sunday morning.

My wife and I are going to Vegas for Christmas (we needed a break from family in a bad way), and I want to do some pawnshop browsing. Where does one go to find shops with interesting stuff in them? I'm not interested in the Pawn Stars-type shops that sell Tiffany jewelry and Superbowl rings or whatever. I just like stuff that looks like it could have an interesting story, particularly vintage militaria, weird/occult art, that sort of thing. Any suggestions?

Every pawn shop I've ever been to in Vegas (with the exception of the place from Pawn Stars) was the same as every other pawn shop: guns, tools, beat up guitars and other instruments, CDs/DVDs, and used electronics with some meh jewelry in the case, all for way more than any of it is worth. The only time I went to Gold and Silver (because of a friend who liked the show), about 1/3 of it was poo poo from the show that all had not for sale signs on it and the other 2/3rds was a gift shop. I hear they've expanded it and its pretty much just a glorified gift shop with a food court now. If you want weird poo poo from questionable sources and shady people Craigslist is your friend.

Solo meals are always best at the bar at any restaurant. You should have no problem getting a seat at the bar at basically any restaurant.

Nothing really specific yet. I am planning a trip to Vegas with my wife and 3 kids (15,16, and 17). We're not really gamblers and we're on the budget. They've never been there before and are mostly wanting to see all the cool hotels and stuff. Right now we are looking at Circus Circus. It looks pretty seedy and a bit far from the attractions, but it has good prices and honestly seems like it has the most stuff for the kids to do without they're parents, as I doubt they will want to be saddled to us.

I checked out Excalibur and while it says it is good for families, I didn't see much there except for the "Fun Dungeon" which looks the same as it did when I went there as a teen in the 90's.

Also, are there good places to look for bundle airfare/hotel/attraction deals?

Not to answer for the other poster, but I'm not into gambling, heavy drinking, or nightclubs, and I still love visiting Vegas. Great food, awesome shows, random fun things to see. It's like Disneyland for grown-ups.

That said, it's expensive even as vacation destinations go, and there's no way I'd take three teenagers there, especially on a budget.

There are things in Vegas for underage people to do (the Mandalay Bay aquarium, the Pinball Hall of Fame, M&Ms World, most of the non-XXX shows), but fewer than most other vacation spots, and nothing is cheap -- especially if you stay around the Strip.

I'm not a particularly good resource for things non gambling related, but if you're going to come to Vegas with a larger family it might make a ton more sense to get an AirBnB off strip.

Some things I've done in Las Vegas that may interest a family with teenagers:
-Neon Museum is a great tour, both visually and for the Vegas history. Worth paying the surcharge to go at night.
-Mob Museum is also pretty well done.
-Boulder City is cute and has a bunch of trails around it for all fitness levels.
-Minor league baseball team moved out to Summerlin (boo!) but on the plus side the team's batboy is a dog now :3:
-There are a few conveyor built sushi places which can be a fun novelty if your kids have never been to one of those before.
-There are a bunch of ATV desert tour operators. Dunno if they allow 15 year olds to drive their own vehicle.

e: I haven't been to a First Friday but I like doing that kind of thing when I'm in other cities
