Did anyone listen to Claude Von Stroke's mix on Rinse? It was pretty slamming. As an SF resident I'm psyched to see Dirtybird embracing their UK influences. Their parties are always a blast.

Trim's also got a single on Planet Mu in a month, with Mark Pritchard instrumentals (otherwise it wouldn't be a Planet Mu release, I guess). Predictably weird.

This one has been kicking around for a while. Stereotype was in Africa Hitech's Rinse mix last fall. Love that tune, and my MC buddy will be pumped when I tell him that they're releasing the instrumental.

I got the Fade to Mind CD in the mail, but it has no tracklist. Some cool stuff, some stuff that seems like it could have used a little more time.

Funny, I'm listening to the Numbers podcast right now. I got The Claw last week as well and wasn't impressed. All but a couple of the tracks didn't deserve a release IMO.

I'm looking for more suggestions in the line of: Blawan, Objekt, Jack Sparrow, Randomer... basically techno influenced. Ideally 130 bpmish -- I don't mind four on the floor at all. Most importantly, it has to be dark. I really like instra:mental, anstam, bunch of the hessle guys, but they all are a little too broken beat and a little too future garage. I really dig the percussion and atonality of most of the stuff guys like Blawan put out.

Check out the label 50 Weapons. You're really going to like the Cosmin TRG stuff. I just picked up their new comp and have been enjoying the hell out of it:

So I'm taking up the "build a scene" flag again, after being asked to do a "future bass" event by a club I really respect, but in a new micro-club venue that they are doing bookings for. 50 person capacity but good sound, a good bar, and there will be a new DJ booth; the club that booked me has my favorite booth to play in, so I'm excited to see how this turns out. They want to focus on "an alliance to build electronic acts and foster their development".

I'll have a new mix or two up to promote the night, will be sure to post. It's my two sets from opening & closing for Switch this past Saturday night.

dj deeon - 3 fine hoez
dj dodger stadium - stadium status
mikeq - the ha dub rewerk'd(dj sliink remix)
dj slugo - wouldn't you like to be a hoe too
addison groove - fuk tha 101
machinedrum - gbye
mikeq - the master blaster(nadus remix)
rp boo - heavy heat
dj rell - shake, pop, drop, bob
remarc - r.i.p.(phillip d kick's footwork jungle edit)
traxman - moveit juketronic
dj pierre - pump them things
dj roc - back up shawty
dj rashad & gantman - heaven sent
dj rashad & dj manny - r house

Great tracklist. As far as the mixing goes, the beat matches are mostly pretty tight and you're bringing the tunes in confidently which is important for music like this. You might want to try switching up the style of transition that you're doing though. I'd be able to give more specific advice in that department if I knew what equipment you were using.

Don't be afraid to mash the cue button, grab the platters, and slap the faders around a bit. You have the blending figured out but this style of music could use some quick cuts and spinbacks too. Moves that seem cheesy in most house and techno sets are totally appropriate in this context.

When you stream a tune on soundcloud it gets compressed, so uploading a wav prevents the user from hearing a transcode, but no one wants to actually download the wav source. I've seen people upload wavs to soundcloud and then provide a link to a 320 download. That gives you the best of both worlds.

The podcast airs on some french college radio station and is a collaboration between the labels B.YRSLF division, Full Fridge, Get Flavor, and Soukouch Ethnik. Between these crews and Club Cheval I expect a lot of interesting bass music to come out of France in 2012.

So announced a few days ago and seemingly ignored by everyone (including me!) is Mark Radford is doing the next Rinse CD. Actually really looking forward to this as for the past few months - now that I'm pennyless and on the dole - Mark Radford's Saturday night show has been locked on my dials. Or bookmarks or whatever it is nowadays. Really smooth 'n' slinky, kinda European slightly techy but not really techy cool Housey stuff (now that's a description and a half!). If you liked the Kismet Rinse mix and that whole Circle sound you'll probably like this. Unless the disc turns out crap, but I doubt it.

I used to listen to Radford's podcast regularly but I've gotten sick of it. A lot of the tunes he plays are a little too 'big room' for me and I don't feel like there is enough warmup or variety. It seems like every show starts as if he is stepping into the booth at midnight and the floor is packed.
