JOINING THE SA FORUMS WILL REMOVE THIS BIG AD, THE ANNOYING UNDERLINED ADS, AND STUPID INTERSTITIAL ADS!!!

You can: log in, read the tech support FAQ, or request your lost password. This dumb message (and those ads) will appear on every screen until you register! Get rid of this crap by registering your own SA Forums Account and joining roughly 150,000 Goons, for the one-time price of $9.95! We charge money because it costs us money per month for bills, and since we don't believe in showing ads to our users, we try to make the money back through forum registrations.

I just did this same eval for my company (MSP). We stuck with Kaseya due to getting a screaming deal. It IS a good product despite its detractors (microsoft syndrome).

Look at Labtech and PacketTrap. Level Platforms licensing doesn't make any sense for your needs. PacketTrap is the more mature product and what I would recommend if you have any vmware or serious networks (it doesn't sound like it). Labtech is a bit more extensible with its search/filter capabilities. The integtrated AV with both is sketchy (I don't like Vipre, or Zenith for that matter). I would be happy to talk shop over some other medium.

If having a dedicated server to run your rmm on is an issue than you have some real problems. All rmm tools are available hosted if you can't swing it for some reason.

Also, anyone should be able to get a minimum of 20-30% off your first quote. Don't be afraid to make these salespeople work for their commission.

We have pieced together our own set of tools and it works great so far. Not exactly an all in one package but worth looking at some of these if you want to further reduce costs and manage more of it yourself:

Network monitoring: Open NMS http://www.opennms.org Cacti http://www.cacti.net/

Remote assistance: Teamviewer http://www.teamviewer.com browser based http://join.me

Patch management: VMware Go (Previously Shavlik Patching) http://go.vmware.com/

We run no antivirus for any of our 1000+ users. Admin rights are removed from every user, and we perform all software installs ourselves. Users cannot get into trouble if they cannot make changes to the C:\ All user files, folders, and profiles are kept on file servers.

This is insane. Get a real RMM, automate and do things properly.
