So, I've been lurking this thread for a while, but never posted, mostly because I felt I wasn't depraved enough to be a true wild card. I just want to let you guys know this whole GRRM/50 shades of grey bullshit is an amazing idea, and I look forward to reading the most atrociously terrible fanfiction ever written (not counting AFFC/ADWD).

Congratulations Wildcards, I didn't really believe you'd actually do it. You can finally sleep soundly knowing you created a work of true art. Granted, it's the equivalent of smearing poo poo all over a canvas, but hey art is art. You even managed to out-Grrm Grrm in terms of weird-rear end sex scenes and incoherent bullshit. Years from now, when a song of ice and fire is just a footnote in history, people will be fondly reminiscing on how a game of bones shaped their sexual fetishes and irrepably broke them for life. And if that isn't a great legacy, I don't know what is.

A clash of kinks sounds great so far, but I'm worried that only 3/10 of the chapters so far have sex. Is that really enough space to fit enough depravity to be a true follow-up to a game of bones? Or will all of the other chapters just feature enough food-porn and creepy almost-porn to make up for it?

I like the theory that GRRM sold his sold to the devil to create an amazing fantasy trilogy and then he tried to sneak around the deal by expanding a trilogy into a 7+ book series, and that's why the first 3 books are so different from the shitfest that was AFFC/ADWD.

Bulletproof Tiger

Jon was "killed" cause GRRM is a terrible writer. The deal with Varys and the children is that GRRM is a pedophile.

So, I haven't been paying too much attention recently. I know that WoW is never coming out, but has GRRM said anything in the past 2 years about writing a single word of it? Has he got so fat that he's not even bothering to give people false hope anymore? I feel like false hope is an integral part of the ASoIaF experience, and new fans are really missing out.

Got a question for you guys. What do you think was the single worst moment of DWD, other than Dany making GBS threads herself? It's a tough choice for me, but I have to go with the moment Quentyn decided he was going to tame a dragon by just running into the room and making it up as he went along. It retroactively ruined the best moment of AFFC ("Justice. Vengeance. Fire and Blood") by showing you that the goutman's brilliant plan was to send a dumbass in to play it by ear, it made all of Quentyn chapters utterly useless, and it provided some more dumb drama to Mereen that no one cared about.

I forget what the timing was on this, could it have been Mance or one of the spear wives sneaking around, or were they not at winterfell yet? I think the theory that Theon might have been killing some people and not remembering might be true, but I doubt he was hallucinating strange figures.

You know, Cat is one of the few characters in ASoIaF that I've actually grown to like more over time. Sure, she makes a bunch of dumb decisions, but at least her dumb decisions cause interesting stuff to happen, unlike the dumb decisions of most of the other characters in this shitheap. Like, she lets Jaime free for dumb reasons, but then Jaime becomes the best loving character in the series. And Michelle Fairley does such a good job with her in the TV show, I know i shouldn't let that influence my feelings, but I just can't find it in myself to hate her anymore. Maybe it's just the 8 loving years since i started reading this bullshit, but I think there are so many much worse characters than Cat.

I predict with season 3 being a big chunk of SoS, season 4 will be the end of SoS and the beginning of AFfC/ADwD, season 5 will be the rest of AFfC/ADwD, and season 6+ will be stuff that HBO makes up on its own because GRRM won't have written anything by that point. Even with the lack of stuff going on in books 4 and 5, I think HBO can easily stretch it into 1 & 1/2 season just by the fact of how much they have had to compress the first 2 books to fit in a season. As much as it pains me to say it, the show does have some good stuff that's not in the books, and even if you hate the show, there's a much better chance of them finishing the series than GRRM.

Bulletproof Tiger

Trailers and teasers are too much like actual new information, it would be like GRRM actually releasing new sample chapters instead of shuffling around chapters that have been released for years. Instead, HBO should upload new videos that are marked as new season trailers, but turn out to be commercials for random pizza places.

I'm actually excited about the show, if things continue at this pace next week will be Jamie getting his hand chopped off and Beric vs. Sandor. And since this episode had Jamie being awesome and no Dany at all, it is automatically one of the best eps of the show.

E: well, I think the Ned getting his head chopped off episode had no tits, but I believe the black water episode had tits before the battle. And I don't know how that couldn't be someone's favorite ep of last season, especially with Stannis being the greatest and cersei being an amazingly entertaining drunk.

Brienne in the books definitely didn't kill anyone until those dudes from the Bloody Mummers in AFfC and gets all upset about it, even though they were assholes. In the show she kills those random dudes and doesn't give a poo poo, so, pretty weird and out of character, but I guess it looks cooler on screen. I've given up worrying about stuff like that in the show, I'm just along for the ride because at this point, I'm sure the show will have some form of ending, which even if its incredibly dumb and terrible, will be more then we will ever get from GRRM.

That's what I thought, but this ep had a scene between Varys and Ros where she was basically like "All the whores came and told me how great Pod was at sex". So, really dumb, but I guess that's a plot point now and the babby thread was right somehow.

E. \/ \/ \/ Thats a good point, I assumed that if Tyrion paid the whores to lie, Ros would be in on it too, but maybe not. Either way, I think we all can agree that it's dumb and that the other thread's reaction to it is really funny.

I'm pretty sure in the first season there was a scene with Thorne leaving from the wall to tell Kings Landing about the Others/Wights. I'm not sure if they specifically showed the hand in a jar though, but I vaguely remember seeing it as well. And Thorne hasn't appeared in the show since then, so I guess they did decide to just drop that, it's would have been a nice scene for the book readers, but I doubt show watchers would remember who he was.

Wait, with Dany marching to Yunkai and GRRM writing this ep, is there a chance that tonight could be the the introduction of everyone's favorite character, Daario? Maybe since there's no Strong Belwas, they'll give Daario the "making GBS threads towards Yunkai" scene and then Dany will fall instantly in love and starting making GBS threads alongside him. That way, TV viewers can get a head start on that very important plot line.

I find it hard to like Aegon given that all he's accomplished so far is to look pretty and get his rear end rescued by Tyrion. He's probably going to get Dany-levels of wake-up calls in Westeros, so there's still hope.

He went to Westeros with an army, something that Dany has spent 5 books not doing. Even if he fails horribly and dies immediately, I will still like him because he is trying to do something and not sitting around being boring.

I think if the book somehow came out next year and was terrible, it would mostly be buisiness as usual, we would just move on to "A Dream of Spring is never coming out" and jokes about whatever the "Dany making GBS threads herself" moment was in TWoW. Now if by some miracle it came out and it was actually good, then we would all die of shock and the thread would implode.

I'm kinda wondering what they're planning to do with Talisa, Robb's wife on the show, because she said she was pregnant a couple eps ago. Since a big thing in the books is Robb not having an heir, something has to happen with that. The way I see it, there's a couple of choices:
1. She was just lying for some reason
2. She is pregnant and all the book theories about the Jeyne that Jaime sees in AFFC not being the real Jeyne is true, and Robb secretly has an heir.
3. She is pregnant, but she is going to die before she can give birth

If the show had the balls to kill Robb's wife and his unborn child at the Red Wedding, just to twist the knife further, I would love it forever. I might just be dumb and completely overthinking it though.

I bet that they do have the "Ned loves my hair" line, but I think Sandor fake killing Arya will be the episode end. I also predict that they'll reveal that Arya's not dead in episode 10, but it's too good a troll not to include at the end of this ep.

So, I was in a bookstore today, and I saw that they apparently made a graphic novel based on ASoIaF. When I opened the book to flip through it, the first thing I saw was Drogo stripping Dany to rape her for the first time, so it obviously kept the GRRM spirit we know and love, but I'm trying to figure out who the gently caress a graphic novel is appealing to. People who hate words are just gonna watch the show, and the rest of us will just read the books and allow our imagination to fill in all the food/sex scenes. Is this bullshit series actually big enough now that they are just shoveling random poo poo out now and hoping that someone will buy it for no reason?

Bulletproof Tiger

The most infuriating thing about ADWD is that it could almost have been good. The half of the book that's not the 3 main POVs has some good stuff. Theons chapters are probably some of my favorite in the series. Davos owns, Victarion is metal as gently caress, Barristan is a badass even in the worst city in the world, I even like the Asha chapters because there's a lot of Stan the Man. But the "main" char chapters sink the whole thing. Jon's chapters are just mediocre overall, some good poo poo (like slynt getting killed and the giant guy) in between constantly just saying that there isn't enough supplies for winter and other boring stuff. The others really needed to do something during the book. Tyron's first couple chapters were some alright world building, but then it was just chapters and chapters of nothing happening, and Penny being a terrible, boring character. I don't even have to talk about Dany and how atrociously awful her chapters were. So while there were some good parts, when you look at it overall, all the dumb stuff drags the quality down to dogshit. Almost nothing major happened, the big battles of Winterfell and Meereen were glossed over, and the "Meereenese knot" wasn't even loving solved, only dumbass Quentyn even made it there. When you shove a couple good side stories into 1000 pages of boring poo poo, it doesn't make it good. But it really does make me madder than if ADWD was 100% Dany quality chapters, because it shows that GRRM could maybe still write a good book if he actually tried, but he is never going to give a poo poo about the series again.

Just watched the season finale, I was really happy they put Arya's coin trick in, I was starting to wonder how they were going to do her whole "become an assassin" plot when she never kills anyone. Davis and Stannis stuff was great, there's been a major lack of them this season, and they really should have ended the season there, with Stannis deciding to head to the wall. But no, Dany had to crowd surf on some slaves to try to trick show watchers that her plot is going anywhere.

Regarding the whole Gaiman "GRRM is not your bitch" thing, I don't believe GRRM owes me anything. However, I also feel like with all the dumb poo poo he does, I am perfectly justified to make fun of him and how bad he fucks up everything related to ASoIaF. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but it's not like I sit around all day getting real angry at GRRM and if TWoW is never released, the lack of closure will not affect my life in any meaningful way. It's just yelling about him here and all the stupid insults and jokes in this thread are infinitely more interesting and entertaining than just sitting patiently and quietly waiting for him to not write.

Gregor could be headless with all the magic bullshit going on, but I always believed that Cersei just sent a different head to Dorne. The reason Robert Strong never takes off his helmet could just be that he doesn't want to get recognized as Gregor instead of the "he has no head" idea. I thought when Cersei was talking about sending the head, there was a lot of "wink wink nudge nudge" stuff about how people heads all look the same when they're skulls or something like that, but gently caress if I'm going to try to find that passage.

They kind of hosed up the mountain real bad in the show, he almost never appears and never does anything. I still find it funny how many people (especially show watchers) think Dany and Drogo were a great couple, when he basically just kept raping her until she "liked" it. Then again, this is the series where people think that Sansa and Sandor should gently caress, so I guess every fan is broken in some way.

E: VVVV I actually thought some parts of the show were more rapey. The first time they have sex, in the book she eventually says yes, obviously under duress, but in the show she doesn't stop saying no. Although I guess the ageing up and the fact that they seem to drop the rapey vibe earlier in the show than the book makes it so show watchers wouldn't be as skeeved out.
