Paper Lion posted:So yeah this ain't TVIV but everyone in here was raging about Brienne being "TV ugly" and not REAL ugly. I don't have a problem with this, she's apparently 6'5" and I have no doubt that she can be uglied up with the right make-up team, plus she's got the wide puppy dog eyes that Catlyn always prattled on about. I'm not sure who else they could have gotten - who did people want to play her, JK Simmons in a wig?

Ray_ posted:Ramsay cut off Theon's cock and balls This is so ridiculous I'm having trouble even believing it. Is Dance like 100% Dany porno/Theon sadism? Also I don't believe the thing about going down on the girl on the wedding night because god drat I don't want to imagine anyone writing that let alone Martin (but if anyone would...)

There, now this post is relevant to the thread subject. It's Sweet Dee from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. On topic, I fully intend to skim or skip all of the Dany chapters because, unlike most people, I never liked her (or Jon Snow for that matter) and I always thought her chapters were the weakest part of the books. Imagine my sadness to find out that Dance was the big book of Dany and Jon

Charlie Mopps I wish that Joffrey's actor would just play Joffrey like he acts in your avatar, because Game of Thrones would be a lot better if Westeros were ruled by a thug-life, weedlord, give-no-gently caress king of style. But then again wasn't that Robert's MO for like 10 years?

Joffrey cut up a book and threw the pieces at Tyrion which is what everyone should have done to gurm with their copies of Dance.quote:Indeed, all Joffrey's courtesy vanished at once when Tyrion presented him with their own gift: a huge old book called A Dance With Dragons, bound in leather and gorgeously illuminated. The king leafed through it with no interest. "And what is this, Uncle?" FormerPoster fucked around with this message at 00:58 on Aug 6, 2011 |

Haha did someone post that for Feast in the bad thread too? No it's as original as stealing lines from the book and dubbing in lines about another book can get.

DirtyRobot posted:* Also, wasn't it partly necessitated by the condensed timeline fiasco in Season 2? That whole thing was a mess. I mean, they handled it as well as they could, but still. Yeah this is the source of the problem. The events covered in two seasons of Rome run from 54 BC (the death of Caesar's daughter Julia) to 30 BC (death of Cleopatra) - in other words, a span of almost twenty five years. The timeline in the show is crazy hosed up as a function of this, as Vorenus and Pullo don't appear to age at all, yet we see the birth of Vorenus' wife's son and later we see him when he's almost ten. Octavia and Atia also don't age (but Polly Walker did a good job getting fat between seasons), and yet Octavian receives an actor switch like half an episode into the second season. I don't think it was the best choice given how many other actors continued to look the same, but the timeline situation was nothing like what's going on in ASoIaF. Maybe three years have passed from Game to Dance, and if HBO puts out a new season approximately once every 12 to 18 months, they shouldn't be too far behind how you can expect the characters to realistically age. The only character I can imagine them replacing at any point is Bran, but they probably won't because gently caress Bran and his useless story arc. And yeah this is TVIV now.
