Is there some secret I'm missing to get the dock to show up when I'm in a fullscreen app? Sometimes it'll show up when I move the mouse down to the bottom of the screen, but it works so rarely that I almost think it isn't supposed to appear.

It's really not a feature meant for advanced users, which I'm pretty sure we would all qualify as. It's a great feature for novice users though. It makes things a lot easier for them.

I've found one unexpected benefit to Lion (or maybe it's technically from the iTunes update) that I absolutely love: My iTunes library is stored on a large external hard drive. When I was on Snow Leopard, iTunes would freeze for a couple seconds every time I hit "OK" or "Next" after updating metadata. Now it's stopped doing that. It will update instantly without freezing. I had always just assumed this was the price I paid for not keeping my library on an internal drive, but I guess there might have been something messed up specifically on my system. Either way, it's working much much smoother now.

iTunes updates are generally announced at Apple's September event. I wouldn't be shocked if the next version allows you to stream your music. Apple clearly showed today with both TV shows and the web apps that there are components of iCloud beyond what was mentioned at WWDC.

Yeah, the real difference is that with the old style you were moving the scroll thumb, but with the new way you're moving the page. I really don't think the old way is any more natural, but it's been ingrained in our muscle memory over years and years. You just have to learn to think about it differently.

Unfortunately I went to set it up on my Mac Mini and... well the mono support is poo poo. It took me long enough to get mono installed and working on the Mac Mini, and it crashed a few times once I did. Keep in mind that I don't have any experience with other password managers, but I just started using 1Password about a month-and-a-half ago, and I think it was 100% worth the $50. I couldn't be happier with it so far.

You can install Launchpad-Control: http://chaosspace.de/launchpad-control/ which will allow you to remove items from Launchpad without deleting them from your machine. It has definitely made Launchpad more useful for me. I'm quoting my own post from a few days ago so that I can retract my recommendation. Yeah, you have to pay again. Their spin on it is that you're basically paying early (and at a discount) for version 4 since it will be a free upgrade if you buy this version. That sounds somewhat reasonable, but I do wish I had held off a little longer considering I just bought it about a month ago.

I had several songs show up as "Not Eligible", but once I re-encoded them at a higher bit-rate they worked fine and were either matched or uploaded.

I like "natural scrolling" so much I had to install some hacky thing to get it on my Windows PC at work. It makes perfect sense when you understand that you're moving the contents of the window, not the scroll thumb.

I just need something I can jot down and read on another machine, not an organization system for my scribblings. I hadn't heard it before, but at least according to Jim Dalrymple filling in for Gruber on this week's episode of The Talk Show, you can double-click a note in Notes on Mountain Lion to turn it into a sticky.

I've had Flash uninstalled for over a year now. The only part that's annoying is how many sites have HTML5 versions of their video content, but won't show them unless you change your user agent. Sites really should go HTML first, and then just have Flash as a fallback if they're gonna have it at all.

That's mostly a testament to how solid and refined OS X has already become, and I'm glad Apple recognizes that by only charging for it. I'd say it's also partially due to the new yearly release schedule. You just can't come out with that big of an update every year. I'm guessing that a few years from now if you compare 10.7 to 10.9 or 10.10 you will see about the same amount of change that you're used to in a "major release", but it just isn't coming all at once anymore.
