Quick question, will This RAM Be compatible with the MBP if I was going to upgrade?

edit: Looks like no.

Also, can I put my bootcamp partition a drive that is in the superdrive slot and boot from it?

Currently thinking of upgrading from by Late 08 MBP to one of the new 15 inches. Ideally, I would get it with the stock 750GB drive and put an SSD in the main slot, moving the 750GB drive into the superdrive bay. It would be absolutely perfect if I could keep the SSD for OS X applications and just put a windows partition on the other drive.

Read http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=573906
a 2008 MBP will support either 6 or 8GB of ram, depending what Revision you have. (You need DDR2 SO-DIMM PC2-5300

As for replacing the Superdrive, use http://www.mcetech.com/optibay/

My buddys nearly new Macbook Air is having strange issues.

When he turns on the computer, the 'turn on sound' plays over and over again. When it finally turns on, the mouse and trackpad are completely non responsive. He can still move the mouse around using Touchpad from his iPad. After it's on, it stays on. This is the second time this has happened. The first time, it just fixed itself seemingly and that was a couple of weeks back. The nearest authorised repair centre is over 1800 miles away, so he can't just take it in.

He can mail it in to apple I think.

Apple says you can have problems with the trackpad if you're not using a grounded power adapter. Make sure you use a 3 pronged power connector or test the laptop unplugged.

Another issue could be that a contact is loose somewhere, if you're feeling brave, use http://www.ifixit.com/ to find your model and open up the laptop and reconnect the trackpad/keyboard.

Here's the link for mail-in repair http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24555?viewlocale=en_US

HDD issues

try Data Rescue 3 or there are also a number of command line utilities you should take a look at:
ddrescue, testdisk, photorec

OS X also comes with a command line version of diskutility called diskutil. It's more verbose/helpful than the graphical version so I suggest you use it. It sounds like an issue caused by yanking the USB cord out without ejecting the drive first.

My dvd burner in a 2007 MBP finally failed, so I'm thinking of replacing it with a second SSD for windows. Is this the only option or is there something else I can buy?

Something is wrong with my Option key; it either feels as if the key is too big to fit the slot, or as something beneath it is broken.

Is this a known issue, and is there something simple that can be done about it, because otherwise, I might be facing my second MacBook Air replacement within my free 90-day AppleCare period.

The key might have just come out of it's socket. You can take it out completely(just pull it up gently) and fit it back in.
