The above site has seen its share of criticism from people in this thread, but it's a starting point, at least.

Man, it is taking all the willpower in the world not to buy a Mac mini right now :(

IMO, the best starting point is SA-Mart, Craigslist, and eBay to see what they actually sell for.

No heat issues with my MBA so far. As far as I'm concerned it came from the future (as long as you don't care about games). You can pick up applecare whenever/from whoever.

Just for clarification: whenever within 1 year of purchase of the machine.

What would cause my MacBook Pro to do a strange, almost whining (not fans) sound when encoding video?

Speaking of cool new hardware, Apple really needs to release a Bluetooth wireless keyboard with black keys that illuminate at night.

It seems like a no brainer.

I thought this, but then it occurred to me that users might be swapping batteries in and out quite a bit for a product like that.

No reason they can't put a battery in it and give it a dock / magsafe type cord.

That's not a bad idea.

Or pre-order/ultimately at some point purchase Logitech's recently-announced K750 for Mac, which is awesome (wireless, but with no need for batteries since it charges via natural or artificial light).

I have a friend with the PC version and he loves it, and I'm thinking of picking one up for my MBP.
This is really cool looking, but it has white, non-backlit keys, right?

I doubt they'd want people to have to use a charging cable for a wireless keyboard, although personally I wouldn't mind a dual mode thing where it could work as a plain USB keyboard if plugged in cause pairing can be a bitch sometimes. And I'm not seeing anything about backlighting in the specs there either.

Same.

Yeah, white, non-backlit keys for the white/silver variant…
Then how does this solve the lack of black, backlit keys? ;)

Tried in the SSD megathread, but got no response:

What is the best controller to go for when putting inside of a 2011 MacBook Pro with OS X 10.7.1?

Thanks :)

Samsung 470 has fantastic garbage collection without TRIM enabled and is what Apple uses (though the Apple variant has official TRIM support).

Are there any others? I thought the drives that Apple uses were relatively slow?

So, with shoes on, my MacBook Pro just shocked me when I went to turn the volume up using the F12 key. Is this something I should be worried about?

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro (15") and I just noticed a tiny pinhole sized green light coming through the F1 Button (the "bottom" side of the button - like the "wall" of the button that is closest to the 1 key).

What is this?!
