One problem with a P4P: severe lack of dateable guys. Once you eliminate the ones with existing romantic entanglements and/or incompatible preferences, that leaves, what? Kou (boring) or Teddie (:gonk:)

Maybe they could give Funky Student a social link.
Come on, don't you want to date Naoki?

People really oversell how difficult Nocturne is. There's a couple of moments that can definitely trip you up if you just mash poo poo together (that can work in the Persona games, but not really in the rest of the series), but the game isn't the I Want To Be The Guy of JRPGs that some people make it out to be.

Seriously, Meguro REALLY needs to go back to that style someday.
You can see that style in a couple of Persona songs.

Also for a P4P, the wonkiest possibility I can imagine is a Teddie romance. I have no idea why but even just the idea blows my mind.

So I'm sure this is a dumb question but what exactly ties the "main series" SMT games together? I mean they're not in any kind of real continuity, are they? I've only played Devil Survivor and Strange Journey from the main series and all four Persona games (well, and a brief stint on SMT: Imagine - sooooo much wasted potential).

I'm looking to grab Nocturne next if I can figure out a way to safely stash a PS2 Slim, controller and connectors in my carry on bag.
Some of them share universes, (The Persona series is implied to all take place in the same universe, and it's outright shown that P4 and P3 do), and a couple of demons or sidequests reference other SMT games, but there's not really any real continuity. Like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, it's mostly the shared themes, gameplay mechanics, and concepts.

The P4 Anime is giving the protagonist the name Yu Narukami, so probably that.

Maybe they'll stuck with the manga's name for P3's?

The Aigis robo-finger scene just sorta creeped me out. If I'm a bad fan for that then I guess I'm a bad fan!

You can't outright ignore it, but you can generally just mash demons together, take whatever you think looks good, and move on without actually paying attention to the finer details of it.

EDIT: The one piece of advice I will give you though, is use buffs and debuffs if you aren't. They're incredibly important, unlike in most JRPGs.

EDIT: Also, didn't Yosuke have some debuffs, or am I remembering wrong? Either way my party was Yosuke/Kanji/Teddie, with Naoto sometimes getting swapped in if I didn't feel like dealing with the generic enemies.

P4's party was a bit more diverse than P3's, in gameplay terms, and you didn't have any characters who kind of just sucked like Junpei. Naoto had a ton of problems but at least she had a niche, while the P3 party members were both more numerous and fulfilled far fewer roles by themselves. I don't think Shinji even had anything other than physical attacks.

But the thing is Naoto cut her hair because she wanted to look like a man, not because she particularly enjoyed it. A woman with long hair isn't necessarily 'conforming to what society thinks a woman should look like'. Maybe she just, y'know, likes having long hair.
