The SS2 run also has an alternate audio track where he talks over the whole run and explains all the tricks and why he's doing what he's doing. Also this is just making me want to replay this game, it's so good.

I think he was just frustrated and didn't want to sink 5 hours into a run if he couldn't even get ahead on the first split or two.
