For the longest time I was only aware of SDA, but lately I've just been streaming siglemic's stream on my phone for hours at work.

I noticed that in the chatroom that there seems to be some animosity between the various speedrun sites. Mostly stemming from the huge (and constant) backlog of runs on SDA. Is that pretty much the main reason?

Cosmo is running through Wind Waker right now. It's kind of nice to see what can be done in this game (doesn't seem like a whole lot) instead of constant OoT.

It's a wonderful time for speedruns. I dug out my Wind Waker disc tonight just so I could replay it (even thought I've been watching it being beat once every few days).

It looks like Cosmo is doing an actual run of Banjo & Kazooie. He's running it against the splits from the last time he tried (I think) which took something like 14 hours. So, I'd expect some improvement!

For a while now I've been trying to figure out the best way to watch some streams without being constantly tethered to the computer. My first thoughts were to use the hdmi out on my videocard and run a cable to my main tv. This works ok, but isn't quite what I was going for. I've experimented with a few different DLNA servers and have had mixed results. I think that I finally found a good way to do this though.

So, serviio has been my go-to DLNA server at home for a while now and it's been a long wait for someone to write a twitch plugin for it. But finally, one popped up recently: http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=9216. It basically will tunnel the video from twitch (among many other things) to whatever DLNA compliant devices you have on your network. It isn't just a straight feed as everything runs through FFmpeg first. So, I've been watching streams on my tv in the living room (through either the PS3 or 360) and in the bedroom where there is a Bravia internet tv.

As of right now the plugin has only been downloaded a handful of times, so I'm assuming not many people use it. But, if anyone has a more efficient way of doing this I'd love to hear it.

Sinister1's split tracker seems super accurate when he's running MTPO. Does it hook into the game so he doesn't manually have to change to the next split or something?

SeXReX posted:

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it is someone editing them for him on a fancy spreadsheet with math and stuff. The MTPO community uses the gametime of each fight added up because of how much sitting around waiting to punch stuff there is in the game, so traditional split timers would be really complicated to use.
Ah ok, that makes sense. I was wondering why I never hear the tell-tale CLACK of a keyboard being pounded when the times are updated on his stream.

It looks like Feasel is streaming a bit again (maybe it's been going on for a while, but I haven't seen him on much lately). And he's doing TMNT. Pretty cathartic to see this game destroyed since I rarely got past the dam section. I kind of wish I had one of those dazzle things to start running this game myself.

After watching the Encyclopedia Bombastica Mega Man 2 entry, I thought that it might be time to rewatch a real Mega Man 2 run. But, for some reason the run that Cyghfer did at AGDQ2014 on youtube doesn't allow mobile streaming. I went to his youtube channel and found a more recent run... but that doesn't allow mobile streaming either!

Why would anyone restrict youtube videos from mobile? I don't get that.
