So, fun thing about escort quests in this game:

There's a rather odd glitch where if you cast a 1-second Command Humanoid spell (of sufficient strength) twice on an NPC in quick succession, it counts their escort quest as completed. You don't need to talk to them first or anything. In the All Main Quests speedrun, we enchant Tarhiel's shoes with a level 21 spell and use them to instantly complete that bride quest, the Ahemmusa wise woman, and Huleeya.

The only quest we know it doesn't work on is Redoran Hortator, due to how that quest is scripted.

You can see it in action in my most recent run.

If you want to try it yourself, there is one very important note when creating the spell: make sure you set the duration to 2, then back to 1. Otherwise it doesn't work (due to another bug).

Without the source code it's hard to tell what kind of weird glitch is happening. Like maybe some variable overflows into another, so it causes the flag to be accidentally set? Nobody can tell for sure.

Except perhaps Hrnchamd or another reverse-engineererationer.

Lunchmeat Larry

Like... I freely admit even scripting isn't my forte and this seems like a more deeply coded thing, but I thought Morrowind only really tracked and updated quests by referencing the journal entries themselves, most are updated through dialogue or a death script. There's no "active quest" like in most newer games where I could see it ticking off an autocomplete active quest flag. Some of the more scripted escort NPCs *update* quests when they get to a certain area but you usually have to talk to someone for the quest to complete, often not even the escort NPC themselves... and that doesn't even sound like what the game thinks is happening there. Amazing.

(reference sheet) https://en.uesp.net/morrow/editor/mw_cscommands.shtml
here's the relevant part of her script (Huleeya's is the same)

code:
if ( GetCurrentAiPackage == 3 )
	MessageBox "3"
	set followNow to 1
	SetHello 0

	if ( GetAIPackageDone == 1 )
		set followDone to 1
		set followNow to 0
		AiWander 128 0 0 40 20 20 0 0 0 0 0 0
		Journal B3_ZainabBride 47
		Say "Vo\D\F\Flw_DF003.mp3" "Thank you."
		ForceGreeting
		SetHello 30
	endif

	if ( GetPCCell "Zainab Camp, Ashkhan's Yurt" == 1 )
		set followDone to 1
		set followNow to 0
		AiWander 128 0 0 40 20 20 0 0 0 0 0 0
		Journal B3_ZainabBride 47
		Say "Vo\D\F\Flw_DF003.mp3" "Thank you."
		ForceGreeting
		SetHello 30
	endif
GetCurrentAiPackage returns what kind of AI it currently has, in our case it's "3" for follow. GetAiPackageDone returns 1 when the AI's package is complete. Now, the UESP only mentions its use in AITravel (or AIFollow), but it actually returns 1 with Command Humanoid too! For some reason they duplicated their code, maybe as a failsafe in case the package ended early - they don't actually check you make it to the cell. Hell, they don't even check to see if you're on the quest. They just check to see that "An AI Package with follow is complete". One cast of command gets you in the first if statement, by casting a second you maintain the "AIfollow" flag and cause the first command humanoid to end, causing GetAiPackageDone to trigger successfully.

the first quest has you finding a replacement for gothren.

The first guy is insane, the second one doesn't want the job. The third one is a gorgeous and stunningly beautiful half chimer half dunmer (like vivec but a girl) named Zubudaiah. She was raised by her stepmother on the mainland and comes from a long line of sorceresses.

Obviously that's the right choice, look no further.

The next quest has cultists attempting to abduct her because she reminds them of their goddess, one of the founders of the house of telvanni named zafirbel (who also looks like vivec). Did I mention she is stunningly beautiful? every npc likes to point that out. You summon this archmagistrix (see, thats what the author likes to call a female archmagister) and she is appaled someone would attack her granddaughter and sends you to fight those devils off.

From there she thankfully plays much more of a tertiary role. Until the postgame where she finds the oghma infinium, who chooses its owners who it finds worthy. Your advisor says wow that's the second time she found it! (she found it as a young child)

It's something that ESO lore has actually made me realize is brilliant parts of the Tribunal's characterizations; Vivec aspires to be all things at once, male and female, hero and villain, past and present, Chimer and Dunmer. Almalexia refuses to acknowledge that Azura has any power over her at all, so she remains as she was; a Chimer. Sotha Sil doesn't care and doesn't even think of himself as a god, so he appears as a Dunmer... except he makes himself bigger, for some reason.

Thank you! Do you have any plans for what you want to do with the Mages Guild? I remember talking with Stuporstar about it, last time that mod came up in this thread, and I forget if I suggested my bureaucratic solution then:

If Arch-mage and Archmagister, grant every member of House Telvanni their equivalent rank in the Mages Guild, with seniority. Grant all members of the Mages Guild their equivalent Rank minus one in House Telvanni, without seniority. Declare the Vvardenfell chapter of the Mages Guild to be the Vvardenfell branch of House Telvanni, and say that anyone who wishes to be a Mages Guild member must join the House. Bam. Done. Assimilated fully, no violent conquest needed. (Implementing the rank stuff using ingame ranks may or may not be too much of a headache to bother with.) Original idea, please steal if you want.

Pretty good

i might use this, thanks

they actually give you a choice of "take over" or "ignore" the mages guild. and if you ignore them you get the BAD ENDING and the telvanni literally send you a dunce cap. if you do it right you get a magic crown and the oghma infinium.

instead of giving you the option i'll just divide it between "hostile" and "non-violent" takeover

According to the concept art, their heads literally explode with enlightenment once they leave the ash slave stage. They were originally going to have the insides of their face-holes glowing, and I guess eventually that enlightment takes the form of an elephant trunk flute, because ok who doesn't want that? I'm guessing some people make the cut and some don't and end up mindless. It's like getting into the management track or being stuck in wage slavery, based on how well you agree with the nonsense your three-eyed boss keeps spouting at you in your sleep.

Is there a better sound mod outside of the old Atmospheric Sound Effects? I ended up gutting half of the sounds in it (I WANNA BUY ONE MUMMY) already.
