Holy gently caress, I just realized the seat belts in that B-17 photo are the same belts we were using in AWACS until 2010.

simplefish posted:Speaking of undead hands holding things, I like the mirrors on your truck an awful lot, but don't think you should use them on the bug. The skeleton-themed interior is at just about the right level, but the outside should be all rust and fighter/bomber (in my humble opinion) In almost every state you need one sideview mirror on the outside plus either a rearview or another sideview. This is why jeep folks have to move their sideviews if they want to take the doors off.

Try to find/make some OD green seat covers. Something like what you'd find on a yard chair might work. Those seats look pretty awesome, so does the plexiglass. Great update.

Cakefool posted:If you do a period accurate restoration on a vehicle you don't get to put a lot of your own vision into it, essentially ending up with a car as it rolled off the line, like thousands before & after it. For some cars & some people that's fine, I wouldn't want a riced-out Bristol or Porsche speedster for example. When you do what you're doing, it's all your own vision and unique. Bingo. That said, I hate when someone takes an old car that's in original/near original condition and hacks it up. USUALLY there are enough examples that are already modified that you don't have to kill another. For example, my Vette is drat near original...if I'm lucky enough to get into another classic it WILL be a basketcase so I can do my own thing.

I'm not sure what they are, but they are not 7.62x39. Can they be removed from the belt? A better pic would definitely help, once again the lighting in these is terrible. Even if they're blanks, if they're live rounds this is a terrible idea. Make sure they're not.

I'm told these are 7.62x51 (7.62 NATO) blanks. So the website seems to actually be accurate. It certainly looks like that belt dates to Vietnam, too.
