LeftistMuslimObama posted:I have never before been mad about a Firefox update, but the last one changed my default search engine to Yahoo without asking me. That's pretty loving annoying. I'd read somewhere that they were going to do that. At least you have the option to fix it. gently caress Yahoo. I upgraded to 34, but Flashblock didn't work, so I went back to 33.1.1. I don't know if this is a Firefox 35.0 thing or a SALR thing, but here goes. See the popup box when I hover over the forum name? If I try to click on any of the choices, the box disappears. Otherwise, everything is fine.

Why has Firefox 58 become such a memory hog? It sometimes gets to a point that I have to close it and restart.

isndl posted:If you habitually leave sites open in background tabs you can try reloading them. I've found that some sites will just bloat over time (Javascript fuckery?) and a refresh frees up an easy three gigs after some disk churn while FF pulls the cache to dump it on my tablet that only has 8gb RAM. I rarely have more than one tab open at a time. Version 57 was fine and gave me no trouble.

I'm using Firefox 65, but this has been an issue for sometime: When I click on a pdf, it tries to save the file rather than open it even though I set it to do so. How can I fix this?

dont be mean to me posted:Go to the General pane in Preferences (it has an about page but the Forums understandably don't want to risk making an about link - also the hamburger and title-bar (if enabled) menu say Options in Windows), down to Applications and make sure that whatever fancy name your OS has given files with .pdf extensions is set to Preview with Firefox. When I click on the drop down box, I see this: There is the option to choose which program I want, I can choose Firefox, but it doesn't change.

65 has another annoyance. When you start typing on the URL line, a little dropdown line that says "search with" appears. Can this be disabled?
