Baam was trapped in a cave. That was all he ever knew. Now, odds are he didn't spontaneously come into existence out of thin air, so presumably someone put him there for some reason. He is definitely a monster of some sort, though I doubt it will involve transforming or anything.

The crown game in itself wasn't very good, but it developed Baam's character pretty well. That is, it made it very clear that the boy is loving nuts.

Think about it. Lahel spent a lot of time with Baam, but she could come and go freely while he could not. She had a kid who thought she was light and goodness personified, and encountered him entirely on her own terms. What was the most important time of his life might have been a diversion for her. We still know nothing about Lahel's motivations. She obviously has some fondness for Baam, but that doesn't mean she wouldn't throw him aside again to achieve her goals. Coffee lady had a great tool in Lahel for getting rid of the threat if she made a good enough offer. Promises are cheap, but Lahel is probably gullible enough to buy that the second floor manager could somehow get her to the top. gimme the GOD DAMN candy fucked around with this message at 22:22 on Nov 30, 2011 |

Even if no one offered her a deal, if she tries going with Baam she becomes a target too. The tower staff loving hates irregulars and wants them dead. Baam might be able to carry Lahel to the top, but that is the most dangerous method available for her.

Everyone was using shinsoo. Baam has been able to move through shinsoo like it isn't there ever since he fought the snake. The cheap bomb was a conventional explosive, to which Baam has no immunity.
|
# ¿ Mar 1, 2012 01:30 |

If Baam was unable to enhance his physical ability with shinsoo he would be slower than anyone else. Baam's talents are that he is largely immune to shinsoo, has a natural knack for learning shinsoo techniques, and doesn't follow the laws of physics when using it. He might have picked up a few things since then, but those have been his irregular irregularities thus far.

It is a tower. By definition, it is indoors. No one can see outside the tower, which implies there are no windows. So yeah, having someone who can produce light on demand seems useful outside of the beaten path. The spear thing is because in areas of heavy shinsoo, only piercing weapons work. Blunt and slashing meet too much resistance.

Baam is climbing the tower after being horribly screwed by the test proctors. Now he is part of an organization pretty much every proctor who works to filter out dangerous elements would want to stop. This probably isn't the first ranker he has had to fight, and it certainly won't be the last. Baam isn't just a very skilled wave controller. He is an irregular, and the normal rules of shinsoo physics and whatnot simply don't apply to him. He is stronger than the last test would indicate, and it indicated he was very strong, indeed. Plus, look at the size of that guy. He probably isn't a physical brawler, which means he uses shinsoo. Long story short, shortie is hosed.

If that was the case, why would Baam have abandoned even the concept of friendship? If no one else even saw Baam's body, why was it necessary to stab him in the back? Why would Rachel have lied and then used Baam's friends to carry her rear end up to the top of the tower? Rachel's betrayal was exactly what it seemed. The entire system of regulars and tests is designed to keep Zahard on top. The androgynous coffee maniac was just doing his job when he conspired to murder Baam. Why wouldn't Baam want to rebel against a system whose express purpose is to kill him? Likewise, for FUG an irregular with a grudge and no attachments seems like a prime recruit.

Yeah, he probably just froze her and walked through her flames. It is a foregone conclusion that Baam will lose this game. After all, if he won he wouldn't continue on with his new supporting cast. I don't think he will get beaten up, because if that ranker was able to do so he would probably kill Baam. So, 7 people. Emoticon guy, rear end in a top hat with a daughter, 'the Zahard prince' (whatever that means), teamkiller, the devil arm guy, and two others. I'd actually prefer if the last two were the loanshark and the spoiled kid, because the little girl, glasses girl and effeminate roommate are all sort of boring.

Baam is going to move up regardless because he passed the last test. This right here only determines if he continues alone or with a team. Well, that's the stated purpose, but the ranker still wants to stop Baam from advancing entirely. Because Baam's moving up isn't dependent on this test, the implication is that he wants to kill or cripple Baam.

It seems more likely to me that Viole is a lone wolf or part of a separate group, and that he just happened to wind up in a group with a FUG member. Everyone takes him for a member of FUG even though he isn't. He said flat out that he was a member of FUG. He is wearing a FUG outfit. Normally only rankers can become members, but Viole is an irregular so normal rules don't apply to him. He had a choice between killing a specific person, passing a specific person, or passing alone. He chose to pass alone. They didn't show Viole killing the regular because it never happened.

There was never any indication that Rachel did not betray Baam. Otherwise, why would she have actually stabbed him? No one was observing them in the bubble. Baam doesn't have any special resistance to being stabbed, drowning or water pressure. It isn't clear how he survived, but it certainly wasn't due to anything Rachel did. Rachel accepted the deal to kill Baam. She stabbed Baam. She used Baam's death as a way to get carried to the top of the tower. So, obviously this was all a clever ruse by someone who had never demonstrated any particular resourcefulness.
