Only complaint is they should have ended their set with 40 Days and done Golden Hair for the very end. The four-minute extended outro is something loving else.

I was actually really hoping for Primal ending to their set. That song just blows me away still, after 23 years. Seeing them next week in SF, and it has been a long time coming!

well, Low may not technically be "shoegaze", their earlier stuff does get pretty drat close to the mark

from their 1994 release 'I Could Live in Hope'. Their sound has gone in different directions over the decades

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gn2eR7Xq4KM

then they headed into interesting territory
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY8OUjxzBhs

they really nail addiction with their latter releases

was just listening to this cd again today and remembering how awesome this was when it was released. It still holds up extremely well 25 years later. Really sad that I missed their tour a few years ago, as I heard it was an amazing night of blistering sonic intensity.

Just also reporting in that the Slowdive show was amazing. It was well worth the 23 year wait for myself. Sonic psychedelic shoegaze bliss wrapping the crowd in a nostalgic haze, and they were in top performance ability, especially for not playing together for so long. Highlights of the evening were Catch the Breeze and Golden Hair....talk about being blown away by a wall of sound. I never thought I was going to have the chance to catch these folks live, and i have to say that I am very happy for them in this successful run. They really deserve it. I agree with the folks above that Golden Hair would have been a spectacular high note to close the night with, though their encore tracks were 40 Days and Albatross, which were nice to hear.

i haven't found any other band that could nail down Curve's intensity, softness, and bitterness like they do. Some groups can pull off certain elements, but as a whole, nothing has been close. For a while there, Garbage was sort of seen as the pop band who stole Curve's style and made it into something shiny, commercial, and practical, but as far as spirit was concerned they never came close. I discovered Curve in 1991, when I saw their video for 'Coast is Clear' and fell over myself trying to locate anything and everything I could by them and am now going on a 24 year fanboy crush over Toni.

Drove 8 hours to see them play live in 1997 and it was worth every minute of that long drive. Glad to see more folks appreciating their sound. And SPC ECO is actually pretty nice, and perhaps the closest you may come to Curve in this day. Garcia has been very hit and miss with me in his side projects, but I have appreciated SPC ECO.

this track is just a cosmic orgasim

well, Sliverfish was Shirley Manson's (Garbage) first group, so the sound alike seems to have always been there. I found their sound to be a bit edgy/90's alt, or more so than Curve, but I can see your direction. Not sure I hear the Ruby reference, except for the power direction of the music. Lesley Rankine's voice is way harsher, though I loved her in Pigface! Sadly, Ruby's new stuff is quite awful.

Went to The Black Ryder show in SF earlier this week as they kicked off their tour. Was pretty decent. You could tell it was the first show of the tour, as there were some minor things that they didn't quite feel solid on yet, but all in all they had a good sound and nice energy. I am guessing that the more they play on this tour, the better they are going to coalesce. Well worth the :10bux: or so you will drop on the show. I could listen to Aimee Nash croon all day I think. If you are a fan of a more "David Lynch'esque, alt-western" stylized version of shoegaze, you will most likely enjoy it.

I think their latter half of the tour they are opening for The Jesus and Mary Chain

so, looks like it is true

http://pitchfork.com/news/61394-lush-announce-first-live-show-in-20-years/

"Lush have announced their first live show in 20 years. It'll take place on May 6, 2016 at London Roundhouse. Alongside the reunion, 4AD will reissue Lush's best-of compilation, Ciao!, in November, followed by a limited-edition boxset called Chorus in December. That'll comprise early compilation Gala, their three studio albums, B-sides set Topolino, and a clutch of other rarities. Justin Welch of Elastica will play drums at the Roundhouse show. "

Manual & Syntaks hits the mark as well (ignore the cheesy youtube video picture)

and to add to that, Manual as a whole gets interesting at times.

The Blue Skied an Clear comp also has a collection of electronic/shoegaze artists covering Slowdive tunes. Some good, some eh.....

criminally underrated and sadly obscure album by Closedown from 1994. It is overall a very solid release merging shoegaze, dreampop, and ambient
